I tried it but 1080i looks better - less blocky. Might give another go sometime though as I should get a better frame-rate at a lower res.

Both tvs have crap contrast radios. Although ive never seen a TV with a small contrast ratio so not sure how it would look

Yeah, but for under £450 I don't think I'll be able to afford that

Am just looking for a tv to tide me over until I finish uni really.

This has been getting awesome reviews on AVforums, but as you say, only has a contrast ratio of 750:1.

Try asking on there about the difference in quality between the contrast ratios. I know in theory the higher then number the better, as it has more steps between true white and true black. But not sure how this looks in reality

Why get something to "tide you over"? It'll cost more in the long run.
