watching this on FX at the moment...they're about 1/3 through season 2....really enjoying it. Wouldn't put it up at the level of Sopranos / West Wing but it's blooming close.

I've only got as far as halfway through season 2 - the one at the docks - which is being repeated on one of the Sky channels at the moment.

It is the best TV show I have seen in years and years. Utterly brilliant.

Season 1 was excellent but incomparable to the rest of the seasons - whilst Seasons 2, 3 and 4 were like chapters in abook, 1 was more of a prologue.

For me, Season 2 was the best - it's stories totally related to me, living in a region which has crumbled after the fall of the British Empire...there are so many parallels that it just gripped me (Frank Sobotka's actor did an amazing job too - great actor).

Season 3 was very much great and kept up the high standards of 1 and 2, with new, more interesting themes developed - I thought Simon explored some areas that Scorsese usually explores, which is refreshing for a television show.

As for Season 4, it was, for me, the most intresting institution to look at - perhaps the media will top that though. Universally perfect casting again, with the kids being superb.

I can't wait.
