You've got to take into account you need:
Classic controllers
Wii-mote/nunchuck (Which costs more than the games ffs)
Possibly another nunchuck (I'm not sure if its packaged or not)
Absolutely millions of batteries over time, PS3 is usb charged and 360 can work wired.
A fairly decent sized memory card.
If it was $250 with Zelda then its a bit better, but Wii Sports isn't even a game, it's a poor collection of mini games.
It will always work out to be the cheapest of the 3 consoles, but for value for money 360 and PS3 are leaps and bounds ahead.

I can understand the Classic controller not being bundled...not all Wii buyers/users will want the VC games and shop option of the Wii. That said...if Nintendo do bundled it...it might make a few people re-consider at some point. We shall never know.
The Wii-mote and nun-chuck look a fair price if compared to what Microsoft are charging for their wire-less controller which is $50. Nintendo are charging $60. $10 difference and also Nintendo's in-put has far more tech within.
Fair point. Batteries will cost money...hopefully Nintendo release some kind of charging dock. Until then the Wii will be burning through batteries...
No memory card is needed because saves go onto the internal flash memory on the Wii which is 512mb.
As for price...at GDC and E3 Nintendo actually warned people that they would charge this $250 (no one took notice because of the same line of thinking you have taken, just looking at specs and setting a price)
Iwata mentioned Nintendo's R&D costs for the controller was one of the single most expensive projects Nintendo have undertaken. I don't know how true this is...it may be spin on Nintendo's part. Either way Nintendo have set their price now...
The Wii is Nintendo's most expensive console to-date...it's maybe because the 360 and PS3 not being priced so competitively thus has left Nintendo open to root back into their iron-fisted ways of the past.
I hope Microsoft drop the price of the 360...it will cause Nintendo to surely react and do the same or even create a better bundle for retail.
