Probably because of a number of sites saying it would be $200, $170 and even $150 geting their hopes up. I doubt nintendfo care though, the people who would complain about that are still going to buy it, there the ones that have been discussing it for months and if the cost difference of a game is going to put them off, they weren't a taget for this product anyway.

$250 is a bit high for a glorified peripheral.

It'll need to come with 2 pads, Wii sports and possibly a free game from the virtual console to justify it.

there is nothing concrete that says it'll be $250 by the way, he Nytimes article was pulled, it's $212 with currency exchange from Japanese Yen and that includes tax, and things cost less in the US.

Bit high ? It's considerably cheaper than the 360 is and ps3 will be.
