My take on this is that Nintendo is waiting to give us another boom of information like they did at e3.

Changes under way. Details and screens inside.
by Mark Bozon
June 23, 2006 - Since E3 2006, Ubisoft's upcoming Wii FPS Red Steel has been under the microscope for Nintendo fans worldwide. As one of the key players in the Wii launch, Red Steel headlines the third party attack, and fans are expecting big things. When we had a chance to go hands-on with the game just a few months ago, however, it didn't quite give the splash we were hoping for. Having only been in development for a short time, Ubisoft assured us that there were changes to be made, and apparently those changes are well in motion.
In a brief chat with French press outlet JeuxFrance, Ubisoft expressed that changes to the E3 2006 build were already being implemented, specifically in the swordplay department. In fact, as far as gameplay goes the sword combat was the least impressive part of Red Steel at E3, so we're happy to report that some much-needed gameplay issues may in fact be ironed out in the few months before launch.
It is also important to note that when speaking with Red Steel at E3, members of the team expressed to us that there were already multiple gameplay versions of Red Steel that had been tested. As it stands right now, sword motions are put in by the player and then are translated in the game with one of only a handful of swipes. Ubisoft confirmed that it had previously tried simulating the sword in a one-to-one motion, so that all hand movements would translate directly and instantly into the game's combat, but that the gameplay was dismissed as too clunky and surprisingly unrealistic. Perhaps they are going back to the drawing board, or trying to work off the one-to-one motion combat once again.

Iwata predicts minimal financial losses on Wii hardware.
by Wade Steel
June 7, 2006 - A typical notion for the videogame industry is that of fairly substantial financial losses during the introductory phase of a new console with the expectation that costs will decline as component prices drop and production efficiency increases. However, in a press conference in Tokyo yesterday, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata stated that the Wii would buck this trend and have fairly minimal losses.
Iwata called the notion that the introduction of a new gaming console necessarily leading to significant losses in its initial stages "strange." Iwata went on to state that Nintendo "can't promise we [the company] won't even have a one yen loss, but we are not expecting an enormous loss."
By way of comparison, Sony told investors and analysts to expect that the introduction of the PlayStation 3 would lead to an estimated $884 million loss for the games division in the upcoming fiscal year while Microsoft has admitted that the amount spent on the Xbox 360 was higher than anticipated.
With the Wii's North American launch price to be less than $250, the company expects consoles sales of around 6 million units and software sales of about 17 million units by March 2007.

This week's question: Nintendo keeps saying that Wii "will not exceed $250" when it goes on sale. Does this mean that the console will be $250 or could it still launch for $199? Why not announce the system's exact price point?
George Harrison, senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications, Nintendo of America: The financial comment was made in conjunction with the fiscal year-end announcement of our parent company. It is meant to be a guideline to current and potential stock investors, to let them know what to expect from Nintendo during the next fiscal year.
We announced we plan to ship six million Wii consoles worldwide before the end of March 2007. The "less than $250" price range gives you a benchmark to indicate the possible revenues. It is by no means a final price. The announcement wasn't designed to be a teaser, although I can understand how it might not seem that way from the perspective of an information-hungry gamer.
Why not provide the specific date and price right now? We are locking down a small number of final decisions, and then will make the final pricing public. We know it's never soon enough for our fans and for that, we appreciate the continued support, to be sure.
Mr. Iwata recently announced that consumers would know the details by September. But regardless of the final price, Wii will be a more exciting and more affordable purchase than any other video game system.
People will still have money left over to buy games. Price is an important factor during the fourth quarter, when everyone tries to stretch their holiday dollars. We'll have a mass-market price for a mass-market system.

The latest Nintendo Power reveals part of the launch lineup.
by Daemon Hatfield
June 22, 2006 - According to the latest issue of Nintendo Power, the following titles will be available alongside the Wii's launch later this year: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, Red Steel, and Rayman Raving Rabbits.
Notably missing from this list is Super Mario Galaxy, although few were expecting to see the game right at launch. Several other titles expected to be available on day one are missing here, but as IGN reported in May, more games will no doubt be added to the lineup as the launch draws closer
