I've been playing 5 a side ever week for the last 5 years or so now - we play hour long games usually with 10/12 players.

The best way to be honest is just to play more 5 a side. You definitely struggle if you've missed a few games, but the best way to get back into it is to take it easy to start with - don't charge around like a madman for the first couple of minutes in your case! And warm up well before you start, otherwise your muscles will immediately start developing an oxygen debt, hence your wheezing and painful chest!

playing in goal clearly the way forward :cool:

playing regularly really does work wonders. although that said, i've played for the last five weeks now and while i definitely feel less wrecked after a game, i'm not sure i could handle playing outfield for the full hour yet.

my team were 0-2 before i joined, currently 4-3 with one game left in the series :cool:

Well thanks for the reply guys,

in regards to Wakers, i didn't really do any warm up beforehand but definitely next will next time.

Next game im just going to play the 'Molby' role and go from there
