Yeah i suppose the change of pace and direction was the bit that was getting me.

Two minutes is no exaggeration Sebs, i was going flat out and just ran myself into the ground.

It's every Friday so hopefully i'll condition myself in a few weeks.

Hector thanks for the info, i'll give the grounds men at Ewood Park a ring tomorrow and see if i can have a few laps round.

Just play more 5 a side really. Couple of more games and you'll be used to the pace etc

Played 5-a-side all summer and always played for about 2 hours with one pause. Very lazy play though. But i could do it easily even if i look like ...well..lets say the fat guy from Little Britain.
But now we played our fisrt game in the gym. And it was horrible. After about 5 minutes i had to take a break. So much more intensive. Well at least, last year i had to take a break after 2min.

I play 2/3 times a week, and the only 'routine' I've got is drink plenty of water during the day. Suppose eating carbs won't do any harm either though.

Try it, when I was still playing I couldnt eat before games at all. Used to give me stitch if it was within 5 hours of the game.

5 a side is awesome, and you don't need to be a fitness freak to play it. Just plonk yourself in the Molby role and control the centre of the pitch. You will literally work within a 10metre radius and still be involved in the whole game without blowing out of your arse.

As someone said earlier, use your head and position yourself better instead of playing like a headless chicken.

I've learned to value a player who is a bit of a headless chicken tbh. A person who does that can sometimes occupy the opposition enough to create space for others.

If all players play safe and sit it becomes a bit one paced and like a game of chess.

Thats precisely how I have to play during our 5-a-side, but its more by force as nobody else seems to want to do it.

Its not that I don't enjoy it though as I just break up play and keep it simple, although the odd time after an interception I'll go on a little mazy run :cool:

5-a-side is all about everyone picking up a man, I'm not overly competitive but I get really annoyed at people who just stand around scratching their arse.
