Only online game i've played better than the COD4 beta is Gears, and even then it's a close call.

10 game modes iirc and 16 maps (as someone said).

selecting your own weapons set up was part of what made the cod4 beta so fb. oh and killing people with last stand then hearing them cry about how its "cheating" and "not fair"

Are COD games easy to get into, or will it take time getting used to the controls etc ?

pretty easy to get into. nothing tricky about the controls, just point, shoot, crouch, throw grenade etc
