I could have sworn that it was the Professor asking the Doctor what species he is.

In the new series so far has been to the future in..
The End of the World (5.5/apple/26, or 5 billion)
Dalek (2012)
The Long Game (200,000)
Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways (200,100)
New Earth (5 bil & 23)
The Girl in the Fireplace (4750ish)
The Impossible Planet/the Satan Pit (46,000-ish)
Gridlock (5 bil & 46)
42 (no idea)
and with Utopia being set in 100 trillion that gives us what seems to be a pattern of three stories set in the future, assuming the 2 part finale is set in present day.
That said, both two-parters this season have been set in the past, which probably does mean there's been more time spent there than anywhere else. As someone said, that past is easier, if not cheap, because the BBC has such a huge store of period props and costumes.

This statue episode was ok, imo the series has gone off the boil a bit in the last few episodes. Hopefully the conclusion to the series will be top notch.
