Old story that. It's been doing the rounds for about a month now.

Been watching a few episodes from Series 1 and Series 2, dawned on me how much better S1/S3 have been than S2, only really three or four really excellent episdoes in the second series, far more in the first and third. Absolutely love Tennant now but think it took him half a series to grow into the role, and the stories just not as good.

Obviously Series 3 still has to conclude (looking forward to that very very much), but, based on the evidence so far, how would you compare the three new series?

with the exception of the darlek double header, this has been a very strong series. Really liking Tennant now but wish CE had done a 2nd series though

a little of something good goes a long way.

but tbh i don't think CE had 2 series in him.

What makes you say that? Two-parter at the end was incredible.

Series One had the better Doctor. Eccleston was superb and I wish he'd done more than one series, not saying I don't like Tennat, I just preferred Eccleston's portrayal.

Have just been watching his stories on DVD and except for episode 7, The Long Game, they are all incredibly entertaining. Obviously The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances is the highlight (of the entire new set of stories as well), but the best hairs standing up on the back of your neck moments come at the end of Bad Wolf when the Doctor tells Rose he's coming to get her and in Parting of the Ways with the hologram speech. Gripping stuff.

Series 2 got a bit too lovey dovey at times and I was glad to see the back of Rose by the time she went. New Earth and the first Cyberman two parter were boring and Fear Her was utter crud. Tooth & Claw & School Reunion were the two standout episodes for me. School Reunion is the only show in the new run that has had me crying when K-9 bought it and the Doctor said goodbye to Sarah Jane.

Series 3 started well for the first five episodes, but the four that followed weren't that entertaining. Blink by far the best of the past few weeks lot. Don't really care about the Mr Saxon stuff tbh and I will do my nut if the Daleks are in the series finale...again.

Tennant is a good Doctor and Martha is a far more likeable charcter at the moment than Rose...plus Freema is gorgeous.

Series 2 and series 3 have both had four dull epsiodes each so far so they are tying whereas series one only had one dull episode.

Ditto. I just prefer Eccleston's portrayal, though Tennant is certainly a good Doctor.

indeed it was a great ending, but his Doctor was more 'BANG! he's here,he's done it, more fast paced'

looking at the second series (and i realise they could have rewritten it for CE) the stories just seemed more in need of someone like DT's doctor.

tbh ive a feeling he would have ran out of drive as S2 went on and it could have resulted in S3 or 4 not apprearing, as it is DT has been given a series to bed in and if he still wants the role can carry on fro at least 4 more years given the right scripts

Wouldn't have said this in the second series but for me Tennant has now established himself as "my" Doctor - sadly I didn't have it on tv whilst I was growing up.

Can't believe the Rose hate gav, she was fffb - carried it at the start of season two imo, don't think Martha has stepped up to anything like that level yet, still time of course.

Oh, and suprised you didn't mention "The Girl in the Fireplace" for Series 2, arguably my favourite of the whole return - so sad when he gets that letter from Madame de Pompadour.
