Agreed
I think the clamour over Antony Heads eppisode last year will have convinced RTD that the master could be an asset to the series

My review Prof Rocastle.

Last three episodes have been amongst the worst since the series returned.

It only seems to have an effect on the person in it's vicinity when opened ie. when the snotty kid opened it, it only affected him and not the Doctor.

Therefore, as implied in the story, it's necessary to keep it near the Doctor in case of emergency as per his recorded instructions.

You're expecting Martha to run to the TARDIS, get the watch, run back to the Doctor and then open the watch...

Saturdays episode seemed rather slow compared to other episodes but then again a lot happened in 45 minutes.

Still would have been safer to keep it on herself than the Doctor.

If I remember the book correctly, or what little I read of it, I think the original item (a cricket ball?) would adversely affect the TARDIS in some way if left inside without the Doctor. Don't quote me on that though.

My wife has just texted me to say that she's just heard onthe radio that the BBC are axing the show after the next series, saying that despite the high ratings they want the show to go out on a high.

If that's true, and that's a big if, then all I can think is that Russell T Davies has decided to leave the show and the BBC think it can't continue without him.

Hopefully it's all a big pile of poo though.
