is this book of next weeks episode one of the new series to be released or is it an older book which has been adapted for this series?

Older book featuring the 7th doctor, it's been adapted by the guy who writes the best episodes of the new series (The doctor dances two parter and last years satan pit two parter)

Ok episode tonight, but nowhere near the best episodes since the return. I have to agree with Jearm, although the plot was different, the overall feel was far to similar to the Impossible Planet 2-parter last year. That stopped me properly enjoying the stroy I think.

Tonight's episode just felt like a vehicle to promote the Saxon thing tbh, as has most of the series. If it isn't worth it, I'll be very dissapointed.

Interesting idea, to have a real-time adventure. Pity that the actual story was a bit formulaic. I agree with the post above- it felt and looked like the Impossible Planet and far too much chasing around corridors which gave it a cheapo mid-season filler feel (about three sets shot from different angles and no location filming). Also, by this point in man's exploration of outer space you would think that the dial and lever would be defunct...

| Sorry but you're wrong. The gentleman who wrote Human Nature is called Paul Cornell. He has adapted the episodes from his own book. It is the first time he has written for the series since the first of the new series when he wrote the Fathers Day episode.
Stephen Moffat did The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances, while The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit episodes were written by Matthew Jones.

| I wish the BBC would hurry up and get that particular story out on DVD...
SPeaking of which the BBC have confirmed a fair few classic series DVDs recently. Top of the list is The Key To Time season in a boxed set in September but also coming out is Planet of Evil, The Time Warrior and in another box set Time-Flight and Arc of Infinity.

Ratings for 42 are in:
(Source: Outpost Gallifrey)
Doctor Who was once again top of Saturday's ratings chart with episode 7, 42 being watched by 7.0 million viewers according to unofficial overnight figures. The programme has a share of 36.0% of the audience.
The show was tied with Match of the day Live as the most watched programme of the day, although the raw figures show Doctor who leading by a tiny margin. It beat other shows on Saturday evening by almost a million viewers.
With just Sunday to go, the programme is currently 14th in the top programmes for the week.
Doctor Who was once more top of the children's chart with an audience of 1.4 million 4-15's, a 57.7% share of this age group.
On BBC3 Doctor Who Confidential got an audience of 480,000 which was a 3.0% share and which made it 4th in the Multi Channel Tables.
As it's once again the top rated show for BBC on Saturdays, it makes the decision to have a two week break between episodes even more baffling.

| No, it's Paul Cornell's adaptation of his novel. He wrote Father's Day in the first season.
Steven Moffat has got the episode in 3 weeks time. That one has been described as the "Doctor-lite" episode and the scariest episode since the show came back.
Moffat also did The Empty Child.
After that it's RTD till the end, a single episode and the Saxon two part finale.
