Todays episode (Evolution of the Daleks) was OK not Doctor Who at its best and there wasnt a really big fight scene like the teaesers had implied. The Dooctor came back to life too easily after been hit by a bolt of lightening for my likening. But I liked the Human Dalek hybrid. The Doctor seemed to change his tune from series one where he implied that a Dalek that doesnt kill isnt a Dalek yet in this episode he suggested that the only way for the Daleks to survive was to engineer a new DNA.

He meant to be the same Doctor with a different body, as alluded to in the 1996 feature length episode that was set in the US. The Dr Who TV movie as described by wikipedia where Paul McCann's doctor continues where Sylvester McCoy's Doctor had stoped reading it.. Having said this I am convinced that Rose is more 'in-love' and the reverse with David Tennant's Doctor than she was with Ecclestones.
PS I hope we will see a regeneration sequence soon because we havent had one since the aforementioned Dr Who TV movie of 1996, when the Doctor comes back from the dead.

Way back in 1963 it was conceived as a chidlrens show that would be entertaining and educational. Every production team since the original one in 1963 has said they always aimed the show at children and hoped that adults would watch as well.
Probably the only time this wasn't true was in the shows mid-1980s period years when the show was aimed more at 'fans', which is what contributed to it being killed off for a few years.
The show has got to be aimed primarily for children for it to work as well as it does.

The ratings are in:
Unofficial overnight figures show that Evolution of the Daleks was watched by 6.5 million viewers.
The programme was the second most watched for the day, being beaten by Casualty, which benefited from a later time slot. It was however the top rated show by share.
The programme also has the highest quarter hour peak audience of the evening, with 7.3 million watching between 1915 and 1930. It comfortably beat its direct opposition on ITV1, Vernon Kay's Gameshow Marathon which got just over half of the Doctor Who audience.
Doctor Who dominated the Children's chart with 1.4 million under 16's watching, a massive 64% share.
On BBC3 Doctor Who Confidential was watched by 0.58 million viewers and was the second most watched programme on Multi Channel TV.

As a two part story I enjoyed it. Looked great on screen, some good dialogue, interesting storyline and even the odd dodgy accent couldn't spoil it for me.
So long as there's one Dalek alive out there they will always return. I fully expect them to be back in series four as they are immensely popular with children.

I actually quite enjoyed that episode. To a point.
I think it would have been much better, much more effective for Laszlo to have died. For the Doctor to show that he can't do everything. I think it would have just had a lot more impact.

| Agreed. We need more Fang Rock moments.

It was just screaming out for his death. The Doctor had already said earlier that there was nothing he could do for him.
I thought up to that point, it had set itself up for a bit of a Classic Who moment. The Doctor abhoring the genocide that the Daleks have once again caused, his offer to Caan again showing that he is not prepared, no matter what has gone before to see even the Daleks suffer a genocide.
