I'm going to feel very let down if Saxon isn't the Master.

Would anybody care to explain the Master and his relevance to the Doctor/stories for me, as somebody who only started watching with the "new" series and knows very little about anything before that.

The Master is The Doctor's arch nemesis, in a different way to the Daleks.

The Master is The Ying to the Doctor's Yang.

A renegade Timelord out for his own ends and self interest.

If it is the case, maybe they don't mean brother literally - maybe they mean it as someone of the same race.

Don't see the problem if they made it that the Master was the Doctors brother anyway. There was talk that in the 1970s before Roger Delgado was killed that it may be revealed in the show that The Master was was either the brother of The Doctor or a good friend from the Docs time at the Timelord Academy.

On screen Pertwee referred to the Doctor as saying 'you could almost say we were friends' which for me does not rule out the possibilty of him being a brother.
