Aye, that was ok. Not as good as either of the previous two seasons' starter, but good enough.

i'll never get tired of seeing people's reactions when they enter the TARDIS for the first time.
Me too. In fact I get a little shiver up my spine. And the Doc's explaination to a previous companion, where he uses a small box close to the viewer to cover a larger box held further away to show how the TARDIS can be bigger on the inside than the out always comes to mind. </BLOCKQUOTE>
I got the shiver too, then started giggling like a little schoolkid.

I wonder if we'll see Shakespeare before or after Blackadder punched him on behalf of all schoolkids?
Brilliant if Bla'dder just turned up in the middle and thumped him one!

Personally, I haven't been too fond of either of the previous new series' starters, I thought this one was far and away the better of the three and certainly the best written in terms of pacing, monsters and general excitement.

I'm not sure the episode would have been good at any other point in the series. Don't think the story itself was particularly strong, don't think the premise worked all that well either if i were to look at it deeply.
However, that said, for what it was, a story to introduce Martha to us and to introduce The Doctor to Martha. I thought it worked beautifully.
It had all the elements you'd want for introducing a new regular character into the mix and i thought it gave us a good insight into Martha.

I was boring the wife with my theory as to why Stig was chasing them during the programme - I put it to her that one of them had messed it up at Gambon and totalled one of his favourite cars! You never know...

Much better series opener than the previous two series. Worked as a vehicle to introduce a new companion very well. Judoon looked great although Anne Reid was a bit naff.
Just hope that the Doctor and Marthas relationship doesn't get luvvy duvvy like it did with Rose as I was glad to see Rose go at the end.
Freema Agyeman is gorgeous and I thought she was excellent in the episode.
For those commenting about it being Earth all the time, the Doctor does go to other planets more in this series than inthe previous two, despit what you may have read in the national media about them sticking to Earth.
