I've never really noticed a lot of the issues with 07 that seemed to have caused people to rip their hairs out...maybe I don't get into as much depth as many do...just play and see what happens.

07 certainly had the 'one more game' quality about it. Only started 3 games I think...sitting in Feb 2024 with my current game (think it's my longest ever). Had it going since about Feb.

Once again the new feature list sounds great. The pre-patch bluster is always going to focus on the new stuff, so I'd hope there'll be decent amendments to the little bits and bobs that don't work so well.

As with all new features, I'll reserve judgement until I see how they've been implemented...it does feel as though the general push is for a wider, more unpredictable experience (certainly in terms of media / player interaction) etc and that can only be a good thing.

Little things like pitch size can do one...just don't see the point. And I really don't get the need for the facegen gimmick.


As usual it'll only really be possible to judge the game properly around Christmas when we'll have had the 1st patch (or whatever it's going to be called this year) and there's been a chance to get alternate skins etc

In short, looking forward to it.

That's the big problem with FM07 imo. You pick a team and see what the FM engine randomly comes up with.

The new, gimmicky items tend to stand out and get talked about more. I don't really have a problem with them being implemented tbh. I don't believe that they'd get implemented ahead of improving other aspects of the game. It is listed in the features of the game that the match engine has been "greatly improved" but we're not really going to know until we get a shot of it ourselves.

Unless there is some magnificient new feature included that I'm not aware of yet, them I'm not going to spend my money on FM08. I have FM07 and that's enough for now.

Back between CM97/98 and CM01/02, I got all but one of the games, but I'm no longer interested enough to buy two consequtive updates.

I'm still going to try out the demo, though, just to see what it's like.
