Ok so ive gone back to using an ethernet connection as Mika suggested, so hopefully I won't keep having the same problems as before  | |

As much as I'd love to take the credit, that was billy. I use an ethernet cable and seem to have no problems though, well apart from the fact that my internet is dreadful full stop.
