Default League One 07/08 - Leeds, Forest, and some other teams

I considered bumping "the super duper english league one thread", but I never warmed to that thread title tbh.

A hearty welcome to Luton, Southend, Leeds, Walsall, Bristol Rovers, Hartlepool and Swindon.

I don't care what anyone says, this league is brilliant. Anyone can beat anyone, and they usually do!

Oldham's 11th year in this division, but with question marks hanging over out-of-contract star players Richie Wellens (can leave on a Bosman) and Chris Porter, it may not be our last. The potential signing of Lee Hughes has had varied reactions from fans but should be a good player at this level. And we still have Chris Taylor, who should hopefully make a big impression this season.

Cheltenham's continued League One membership means we can hopefully see the return of higgerz's prediction league! Which I will particpiate in for a change!

General Season Predictions

1. Leeds to be bottom half at Christmas.
2. Everyone to be surprised by this for some reason.
3. Crewe matches to have 3+ goals per game.
4. Forest to win the playoffs.
5. Oldham to lose at Port Vale, perhaps with some red cards and bizarre career-ending injuries.
6. Yeovil to be the side that has an awful season post-playoffs.
7. Bristol Rovers to plummet when they play to 1000 fans at Cheltenham's ground at the end of the season.
8. Hartlepool to be the most impressive of the promoted sides (Only went down due to the playoff curse tbh)

League One fixtures by date

League One summer transfers - Neil Lennon to Forest the big move so far.

I don't like the 'super duper' title either.

I think it will be a close season this year.

My predictions at the minute are:

Champions: Doncaster
Promoted: Swansea
Playoff winners: Luton (Which is being optimistic)
Playoff teams: Millwall, Forest, Tranmere
Relegated: Cheltenham, Wallsall, Northampton, Bournemouth

Top scorer: Hard to say for definate but I reckon Blake or Cresswell at Leeds if they stay there. Sam Parkin should be up there if he stays fit.

What is your teams current strongest line up?
Lutons in my eyes is:

GK: Dean Brill
RB: Kevin Foley
CB: Leon Barnett
CB: Chris Coyne
LB: Sol Davis
RM: Ahmet Brkovic
CM: Matt Spring
CM: David Bell
LM: Paul Underwood
ST: Sam Parkin
ST: Dean Morgan

Problem is that 2-4 of them players could quite easily leave meaning we would have a very bad squad. We desperatly need a new keeper, 2 centre backs and a striker.

HOw about we have a League 1 and 2 thread combined. There wasn't much talk in the League two thread last season so make sense to combine them.

Huddersfield Towns strongest line up

GK: Matt Glennon
RB: Frank Sinclair
LB: Joe Skarz (should be replaced by a more expierenced player)
CB: David Mirfin
CB: Nathan Clarke
DM: Andy Holdsworth
CM: Jon Worthington
CM: Michael Collins
AM: Gary Taylor-Fletcher
ST: Luke Becket
ST: Danny Cadamarteri

We should be getting a couple of wingers. Which would mean a strong bench of:

Andy Booth, GTF, Michael Collins or Andy Holdsworth and Danny Schofield.

Rumours of Melvin Kamara joining as well as Rob Kozluk on a season loan.
