Forest still need three or four more players to compete this year. Lennons a good start but it needs to be supplemented by pace and creativity especially if, as expected, Commons goes.

We should be getting a couple of wingers. Which would mean a strong bench of:

Andy Booth, GTF, Michael Collins or Andy Holdsworth and Danny Schofield.

Rumours of Melvin Kamara joining as well as Rob Kozluk on a season loan.
If you include our sub keeper, there's 11 academy players in that squad. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Forgot Tom Clarke as well. Then even Matty Young and that makes 13. Most productive academy in the country :cool:

oh and also today saw the following press release from Luton:

Quote:
uton Town Football Club confirmed today that local businessman David Pinkney has acquired a controlling interest in its holding company Jayten Stadium Limited.

The announcement was made this afternoon at a Press Conference called by the Club, which was also attended by the Club's Manager Kevin Blackwell along with Ian Pritchard, Development Director of Rosemound Developments Limited, the appointed developer of the M1 Junction 12 site where the Club intends to relocate to a new 25,000 seat stadium.

Mr Pinkney said, "The due diligence process in buying a business is time-consuming, and this acquisition has only taken three months.

"The important thing now is to get on with the job in hand and to re-assure fans who were concerned about the Club's future. I am very pleased with the overall outcome, which I know has exciting times ahead and urge them to get behind the Club. Whilst I am looking at the long term position of the business over the next 20 to 30 years, I appreciate that our supporters are more concerned about the next five and have set out below the key objectives that I aiming to achieve during this period:

i)Relocation to a new state of the art 25,000 seat stadium

ii)Premiership status with a playing squad able to compete at the highest level

iii)Financially strong business with multiple revenue streams - commercial and football

iv)Consistent and stable management

v)First class training ground with thriving academy

vi)Extensive national & local scouting structure

vii)Expansive youth structure and player development program

viii)Football business that embraces the whole community providing extensive community facilities for the benefit of all

ix)A business that is attractive to corporate Luton and the region

x)First class stadium experience (on-site linked hotel owned by the Club)

"These objectives can only be achieved through good management. We are fortunate to have one of the game's most highly respected young football managers Kevin Blackwell, and over the coming weeks I will be adding to the overall structure of the non-football management.

"I am pleased therefore to announce the appointments of David Antcliffe as Group Finance Director and Andrew Dean as Managing Director, both of whom will be joined by other board appointments in the near future.

"In addition, I intend to set up three advisory boards with specific responsibilities for (1) corporate and business affairs, (2) supporters and supporter groups and (3) youth development. The remit and specific details of each of these Boards will be released over the coming weeks.

"Each of these Boards will be mandated to engage with and recommend opportunities/concerns to the main Board for its consideration/action. I am delighted to announce my first appointment Marc Bignell, a senior figure in the UK media industry. Marc has been a fanatical Luton Town fan for many years and will head up the corporate and business affairs advisory board.

"I appreciate that last season was extremely frustrating for any Luton Town supporter and us. However, we have to move on, and I am totally confident that we can achieve the aforementioned business objectives.

"As part of this process, I am delighted that Rosemound Developments have today announced the Masterplan details and projected timescale, together with the latest stadium visuals from our architects, Miller Partnership. I am sure everyone will realise the importance of the Club relocating to the Junction 12 site, the benefits of which have been significantly enhanced by the addition of a state of the art training ground that will have five full size pitches and first class facilities.

"In the past, Luton Town fans have been promised much, only to be disappointed later down the line. The only promise I will give to you is that I will work tirelessly to ensure the Club is given every opportunity to move forward, and will back the business to achieve the stated aims.

"I can only ask for a little more patience and support, and together we can see Luton take its place again with the elite teams - having been a founder of the Premier League it would be nice to see us compete at this level.

"To achieve this we have to move on and make strategic decisions, otherwise other Clubs will continue to expand, leaving us further behind."
Quote:
ew Luton Chairman David Pinkney gave a rousing call to supporters and the town of Luton.

"This is the start of a new era," he told a packed Press Conference at Kenilworth Road. "These are really exciting times for the Club."

Unveiling plans for a new 25,000-seater stadium ready for the 2010-11 season together with major sports facilities for local people to make use of, David said: "This is a clean sheet. It's time to put the past behind us, back the new Board and move on. So come on board and enjoy your Club."

The scale of the development is impressive:

* 25,000 seats

* 46 corporate boxes

* 130 disabled places

* 110 bedroom hotel

* 1,600 car park spaces

* 90 coach parking spots

* 3,000 hospitality places

* 6 banqueting rooms

* 2 Sports Bars

* 1,200-metre Sports Hall

* Fully-equipped adult learning centre

* Creche

* Training Ground with 5 full-size pitches

* Full size floodlit artificial pitch

* 3 Five-A-Side pitches

* 30 concourse kiosks

* 286 toilets

* Medical Centre

* Work out rooms

* Retail Hall and Ticket Office

* Club Offices

For the developers Rosemound, Ian Pritchard, revealed the projected time-scale that means Luton have just two more seasons to play at Kenilworth Road.

Planning application is due to be lodged in September to October this year. A decision would then be due in mid-2008.

With planning consent would be expected by Autumn of 2008, with the stadium then completed be early 2010 in time to open for the start of the 2010-11 season.

Ian told the Press Conference: "We are confident of the planning process. This will need the approval of the Secretary of State, but we are not anticipating a public enquiry."

As well as the new stadium, David Pinkney spelled out his vision for Luton Town Football Club, in both the medium and the long term.

"I'm looking forward 25 to 35 years and I'm buying this club because I believe in it and its supporters. Long term we want to get into the Premiership and we believe that we can get ourselves there. That's the vision."

And he insisted that could only be done on the back of a well-run business

"The majority of clubs in the UK are not sound businesses. I want our Club to stand on its own two feet."

With this in mind, he announced a new structure in the non-football management of the Club with David Antcliffe joining as Group Finance Director and Andrew Dean as Managing Director.

There will also be three Advisory Boards set up with responsibilities for Corporate and Business Affairs, Supporters, and Youth Development. Marc Bignell, a senior UK media figure and a Luton Town supporter since he was a boy, will lead the Corporate and Business Affaird Advisory Board.

In other announcements, it was revealed that Luton will use the Electrolux training ground very soon and will move much more into the community with players taking on more community work in schools and clubs, and youngsters being offered the chance to come to train and play at Luton.

Manager Kevin Blackwell said: "The Youth side of the Club will be three times the size it is now, I will be looking to attract top coaches, even from Europe, so that we can be leaders.

"Then if there's a young player out there who we don't know about, then my staff will have to answer to me."
and some pretty pictures of our planned new ground, much to my relieve the bleeding loo seat design seams to have been scrapped

really not sure what to think about these new annoncements, I've kind of heard them before but the facts are it sounds promising

Not for one moment do I belive the hype about getting to the premiership and don't really woory about that but if he can get us this new ground in 3 or 4 years time and improve the business sside of the club and finaly sort out the mess of training and youth se up then I;m all for him

He seams to have brought 2 or 3 people with business expeiernce on board and if these can maybe make a few differnces then they've got to be better than what we've had in the past

What annoys me most is that the could have Yeovil play Bristol Rovers or Bournemouth on that date and Carlisle play Hartlepool or Oldham. (Forgive me if those teams are playing each other on Tuesday nights though)

Now Pinkney has taken over hopefully we will see some transfers.

I wonder if Clarke Carlisle would sign for us, he isn't going to get into Watford's team at the minute. If we had had him on loan all season...

I also hope Kevin Nicholls comes back although thats unlikley.

I don't like the rumours of Paul Furlong but Sean Gregan and Kevin Gallen may be alright.

And they make us play Brighton in November and Bournemouth in January.

By the way does anyone know when they draw the LDV vans trophy and when the FA Cup 1st round is held.

Also could the last two seasons be repeated with a surprise team walking away with the title and one of the losing play-off teams been relegated.

2007
Champs: Scunthorpe
Relegated: Brentford

2006
Champs: Southend
Relegated: Hartlepool

no chance of Carlisle and Nicholls, wages both far too high for us even in chmapionship yet alone league 1, I;ve heard Nicholls is on his way to Watford as he wants local side but Luton can't afford even what he was paid last time he was at the club
