I don't get the reasoning behind it though. Maybe people that weren't on the card, or even people that were earlier in the night, but just two back to back bouts seems silly to me.

They offer a "big must-see" match as being a non-televised match.
Therefore, people are likely to want to go to see that as well as the TV Show. Its an extra insentive to try to get people through the gates.
You wouldnt get that with two lower card wrestlers.

WWE's website confirmed last night's PWInsider.com report that Batista had been injured and was in Birmingham, Alabama today to be checkout by Dr. James Andrews. Batista suffered a tear of his latissimus dorsi, a muscle on the upper back that connects under each arm, during a show closing angle for the Smackdown episode that will air this Friday on UPN.
According to the site, Batista was informed by Dr. Andrews that he could rehab his muscle tear or undergo surgery. Choosing surgery would mean that Batista would be out of the ring as much as three months, which would create a target return for February. The site reported that Batista would make a decision over the weekend and proceed from there.
It's entirely conceivable that Batista may need to be stripped of the WWE World championship due to the injury.
| Be interesting who is given the strap. My shout Randy Orton, think hes been doing well on smackdown.

Give Orton the title, beat Taker, Batista back for No Way Out, win No.1 Contendership and viola, Mania is the same as it ever was.
