Boussoufa is indeed a more attacking player than Defour. At Gent the entire team played in his service which meant he didn't have to do much at the defensive end of the pitch. He was able to concentrate and preserve his powers to attack. This meant he could easily play in the center of the pitch. At Anderlecht he doesn't have that luxury which means he isn't that fresh in front of goal or on attack and obviously he isn't worth much at the defensive end due to his height/weight. Which is the most important reason he was pushed to the left wing.

Now I don't know the ins and outs of Sneijders tasks on the field at the position he played but I'd imagine Defour would be better suited. He plays in the middle of the park at Standard. Helps defensively but still a more attack minded player.

Not yet but he'll get his fair share of games.
I remember Ten Cate saying a while ago that he thinks Vertonghen is at best in defence.
But I see him as the perfect replacement for Davids (who is injured for another 4 months or so). I know Vertonghen is a hardworking, physically strong, midfielder who has a great left leg.
He's one of the more promising Ajax prospects at the moment so I think he'll get his chance, whether in defence or midfield.

Sneijder isn't much of a defender, and is down for his versatiliy and his creativity.

Though what I've gathered, Defour is pretty decent in offense too, but he can't carry a team... ?

TBH - I don't think either of them can, but they could be good signings though, perhaps they'd do well next to a recovered and controlling Davids.

I like Vertonghen more as a midfielder than as a defender. Hope he gets his chance there.
