Louis van Gaal says we will sign 2 more players - definitely a striker (in talks with Koller) and probably a left sided midfielder although with Medunjanin back, Martens and Schaars may suffice. The other possibility is an experienced defender.
If Ajax lose even one of Sneijder and Huntelaar it really does throw the title race wide open. I think the big 4 will occupy the top4 and Twente will be the final team in the play-offs. The one positive of the playoffs is that it gets around the disgrace that is non champions in the Champions League by requiring the top teams to go all out to win the league because they have the security of European football next year - in England this doesnt happen.
Abe Lenstra - I dont think you skipped the last playoff game - only 3 fans were taken as part of a protest from the AZ supportersvereniging so it was the case that everyone stayed at home!

It’s the Dutch summer at Real Madrid. Drenthe, Robben, Sneijder, Huntelaar...

exactly
so a modern number ten, or a number 6 (?) with infiltrating qualities, same difference
basically an athletic nr.10
before that didn't really exist as far as I know
until players like Ballack showed up at least

New season, same old dirty Jews over in 020. Groningen refuse a ridiculously low offer for Suarez, and A**x encourage the player to go to court to be released from the contract he all too willingly signed when we offered him his shot at Europe.
I always knew Suarez was only going to be at the Euroborg for a single season, and I don't want to deny him a chance at a bigger club, but A**x are extracting the urine once again. This is simply against FIFA rules, and most certainly shows they don't have any morals whatsoever.
If they only offer something decent like ƒ15m, then they can have him for all I care (though I still hope Bremen make an offer, they too need a new striker and at least LS wouldn't be playing against us then), but they once again show what kind of two-faced b@stards they are (whinging about how you don't treat people the way the KNVB allegedly does when it comes to Peking 2008, but then pulling a similar nasty trick on others).
As for the championship, I hope Feyenoord have a nice centenary, with some silverware for them. PSV winning everything gets boring, and tbf I'm starting to doubt AZ will be able to take that final step. I hope they prove me wrong, because they deserve something for the entertainment of the past few years, but... we'll see I guess.
Groningen should finish 7th or something in the regular season. The playoffs can go anyone's way. I also have good hope we'll make the UEFA Cup group stage this season, though a lot depends on the 1st round draw, in which we'll again be in the unseeded pot.

The playmaker/number 10 is being replaced by the box-to-box player but the number 10 is replacing the wingers. I wouldn’t say that they are a modern number 10.
If you mean a playmaker like Cesc Fábregas, then yes. Wenger is trying to make Fábregas a box-to-box player. He is a great playmaker that could be a better player (If he scored more goals and were a better defender).

I think I hear a bit of general anti-Ajax irrationality and sour grapes in the comments here
Ajax are not going to spend as much money on Suarez as they made on selling Babel, seems pretty obvious to me.
As for Suarez trying to sue his way out of his contract, I guess he must have some sort of way out, or it would be futile. And if a move to Ajax is on the books, he'll do his damndest to use that way out. Loyalty only goes so far and certainly not that far.
Guess that's the way it works in football. Ajax can't hold on to Sneijder who's bought by much bigger team Valencia, Groningen can't hold on to Suarez who's bought by much bigger team Ajax, FC Slochteren can't hold on to the next Arjen Robben who's bought by much bigger team Groningen.
Know your place :p
