I'm definitely spoiled by years of reading X-Men comics, but I'm thinking of a much grander scale here, a full blown human civil war. A few key events, the deaths of the right (or wrong, depending on your pov?) people and things could get very messy. Someone similar to William Stryker comes along to stir up fear of evolved humans (Peter billed as a walking weapon, able to explode in a nuclear fireball at will, yet walk away without a scratch, etc.....) and suddenly we have a war between the haves and have nots.
Sylar playing the part of Magneto, with an aggressive evolved human team, determined to wipe out the human race as they see themselves as the next step in human evolution.
Parkman leading a team of evolved humans constantly trying to co-exist with humans, showing humans that not all evolved humans are bad guys.
Humans, leading the Company in an attempt to wipe out or at least control the evolved humans.

Sounds far fetched Gav but this is heroes so anything can happen.
Despite all the Boo boys, while I agree this volume wasnt as good as Season 1 I still enjoyed it immensly and I hope Adam comes back Anders is a brilliant actor.
Dissapointed by Nathans death (?) Nikki can fo.

That's surely too obvious a route, Gav? It would be directly and obviously ripping off Marvel, and would more-or-less be a TV version of X3 (although undoubtedly better).

Ripping off Marvel obviously not a problem for this show, the similarities between some characters are scary, and I'm not just talking about abilities, but their complete character and some of their stories. Change a few bits here and there and it's different enough to say it's not a rip off.
Let's not even mention X3 please, makes me shudder.

Oh, I dunno if anyone is interested, but NBC.com, since Evolutions as a TV series was canceled, are giving folks the power to shape the future of Heroes, by voting for the basic make-up of some new characters via a different "hero generator" every week. In it's fourth week now, with a speed based character, ala Quicksilver this week's focus.

Volume 3 does have the prospects to be good the only thing that made volume 2 decent was peter finally using his brain.

Not a great final episode but the potential for volume 3 is good, I agree with don and gave about the war maybe coming but not quite sure how it would work.
I don't think sylar will have his own little gang probably just a lone wolf i think the if it does go down the main factions will be the company, adams goup and peter's group i am just not sure what they will be fighting.
Also don't think the general public will find out about the heroes until atleast season 4.
My main disappointment with volume 2 was the "generation" tag promised so much more to do with how they evolved and the research that has gone on but it was mostly only about the company 30 years ago and we did not learn anything that great about them.

| Adam had better come back. Saw both the actor who played him an Greg Grunberg in Alias and they were (and still are) awesome.

Although the generations tag could have meant more, I think it was still signinifcant given what have have learned and what could happen going forward.
We found out that Matt's dad was in the company and Elle was also introduced as another of the 2nd generation of the company.
At the moment it looks as if the 2nd generation (or most of them) want to fix the mistakes of their parents and do good. But perhaps that is what the original company set out to do and through the corruption of power or the pressures of trying to do whats good for the world it has tranformed into its current 'evil' manifistation.
The storytelling and acting (looking at you West) of volume 2 was not great, but the situations it has left us in gives me some optimism for volume 3.
