I'm thinking the break could be good for the show. If they leave on the best cliffhanger EVER then during the break they can build up the audience again. When they return with Volume 3 they can also adapt it more to maintain the audience.

My thoughts on the comics and 360 stuff stay the same, and anyone who complains only has themselves to blame. Kring and Loeb were fairly vocal in their promises to make the comics and 360 stuff stronger and more vital to the overall arcs, with less time in episodes spent on filling in any gaps non-participation may create for viewers of the TV show alone. This is partly being forced on them by sponsors, especially Nissan.

The fact the show's creators have said that to understand the arc fully you will have to follow it through various media forms kinda negates any complaints from folks with a "I don't understand what's happening now "

well maybe those that do care will explode and alert those that haven't cared. A little carefully place advertising may bring back those that have gone off of it. I also heard an interview where Loeb said that volume 3 will be able to be watched without having watched volume 2.

| Is that the right approach tho? Like alilaw said, not everyone can be bothered enough to go and check the net for additional story. They just want to watch 40 mins of a program and forget about it until the next week. Not everyone is geeks like us I (at the moment) still like Heroes but im not that big of a fan to go out and find all the other stuff like the comics and 360 stuff
The extra things are fine providing they dont distract away from the main TV show

Right approach or not, they don't have much of a choice. Heroes simply costs too much to produce for NBC to foot the bill, which means roping in a whole bunch of sponsors. Sponsors demand air time and exposure. Kring basically fobbed them off on the comics and 360 stuff. Sponsors then realised that Kring and NBC were basically making the comics and 360 stuff redundant, by having catch up material in episodes, so threatened to pull the funding, about the same time Loeb threatened to walk for the same reasons. So NBC capitulated, and now the "extras" are an integral part of the show. It's that or Heroes goes off the air due to high costs. The failure of big budget show Bionic Woman won't be helping it either.
I realise it's not for everyone, but very few TV shows are. NBC seem assured that Heroes has a core following, certainly enough to sustain it and these folks obviously follow the comics and 360 stuff (the comics are enjoying a print run atm, and the 360 stuff has several million subscribers) so they are not overly worried about falling viewing figures, more viewer complaints.
