JK do a google search and look for information on starting hand requirements and the importance of position when selecting starting hands. It should give you a good start.
As a general rule on a ten seater table you should be seeing about 20-25% of flops. This might seem quite low but you have to be patient.

Im just finishing Internet Texas Holdem by Matthew Hilgar, Very good book but i cant help feeling that in certain sections he contradicts himself a lot (espescially with playing the turn) but its probably just me being a bit thick. Onto Small Stakes holdem by miller, sklansky & Malmuth next. I had started Small Stakes first but after the first chapter i decided to change book as i didnt even know what the "nuts" was. |

If you're not doing well, or if it will cost you quite a bit to see the flop as someone has raised, then usually i'll fold and wait for something good to come along. | eh?
K4o is pure garbage. Don't put a penny in with it.
K4s is playable in a huge multiway pot on a pathetically passive table or from the sb with several limpers.
The see a flop with any face attitude is the reason I manage to make money at this game. (i.e by being the guy at the table who doesn't have it).

I feel I am an Ok player - i have watched a fair bit of poker and Tv and played a little online but obviously as i havent been playing long i could still improve loads and loads. About the online play I play on Poker Pages and have managed to get about 50BBp - starting from 0 - through tournament wins and STT's. I usually finsih in the top three if it is a 10 player table but as it is not for realy money I have no idea what standard of play this is.
So what kind of books should i be looking at? At what level? Amatuer? Intermediate?
| Sounds like you prefer tournament play like me...go for "Harrington on Hold 'em: Expert Strategy for No Limit Tournaments (Strategic Play)"
In comparison to the other books I've read, Super System II, and Phil Hellmuth's one, it tells you what you need to know. Rather than telling you whether to bet, call or raise, it tells you how much to bet, call or raise. The other thing that got my goat about the other two books is they rant and rave about NLHE being the rolls royce of poker or whatever, and then proceed to write the smallest section in the book on it
