you cannot fold AK preflop for about 10 % of your stack ffs, thats results orientated and horribly weak tight.
you could make it 70-80k and fold to a push, but then the flop isnt easy to play if someone calls and you miss. you pretty much have to auto push if they call. its just one of those things

You flopped top 2 pair with big slick and ran into aces. Purely one of those things.
You don't mention how it went pre-flop though. With AK I'd be happy to move in and hope to take the pot there. (obviously with your opponent having AA you were pretty much destined to go out on this hand...only a raise and a big reraise preflop could ahve saved you....and even then it's a tough laydown).

| If you fold your way into the BBP points you definitely won't have the stack to intimidate people with and in general people play too loose after they moneyed (spelling?) so you won't be able to push people around. The stage you are in is the time to push people around.

The all new OTF Poker Thread. Bad beats, bitches, fish, sharks and wins Post #446 | | Guest | Here's a similar hand example I played fairly recently. Copied and pasted directly from ITH.
If this kind of thing happens you SHOULD lose money/chips. If you don't you are playing poorly. (although I suppose the "safe" play has more justification in a tournament situation than in a cash game).

OK.
Bit more information, blinds were 6-10K IIRC, and all 3 of us betting had around 250k.
I did just wanna finish in the money, so maybe if the blinds were smaller I would have folded it.
I got complimented on how I played the hand afterwards, but I couldnt work out if they were being sarcastic or not. I thought I played it right, but I lost the hand, so it felt like I had done something wrong.
Thanks for your opinions.

I just love getting pre-empted by a whopping 5 minutes twice in the space of ten minutes. Really now.

| You can fold this hand if you just want to finish in the points but you are playing poorly if you fold this with these blinds. The only questionable thing is moving in on the flop but you will go broke this hand anyway. Only poor play will stop you from go broke this hand.

Was this a scummy thing of me to do?
Me and this bloke were the only 2 involved after the flop. The stakes got quite high but I could handle it as I had tonnes of money, he had very little.
Flop: QJJ
Folowed by Q and then a 7.
At the time I obviously knew I was in a crap position as I had 46 so I was going just by the communal cards. Anywho, this bloke goes all in, and I match it. He has 44. So we both end up with QQJJ and I win as I had a high 6 and he only had a 4.
Now this guy's complaining because I shouldn't have stayed in the hand with nothing, no malice intended on my part, I was just joking about a bit as I had a fair bit of money and it wasn't too painful.
I'm not too overly well versed on poker etiquette: Should I have folded as I didn't have anything decent or is he a bad loser and he felt his 44 good?
