He's EU. Barring him from working where he's wanted and where he wants to is illegal if done on grounds of his nationality, and football's going to have to get with the programme soon.
Playing for a national select XI isn't his job, and no-ones restricting which club he plays for. </BLOCKQUOTE>

But they are restricting which national team he plays for. The national team is run by a company, the FA, no? </BLOCKQUOTE>

It is, but he's not being barred from working if he's not playing for them. </BLOCKQUOTE>

But if he wants to, and they want him to - then he's being barred. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Obviously. I'll try again - "But if he wants to, and they want him to - then he's being barred." Yes? </BLOCKQUOTE>

As you so succintly put it, obviously.

It's one thing to grow up somewhere and "feel" English for instance but i that's not Almunia. Also, he's not really any better than we have except that everyone seems to be suffering from a crisis of confidence. I'd prefer for Robinson to have some time out, play well for his club and come back and i dont rate Robinson particularly.

Carson there, Rob Green, i'd play David James over him as well. We're not the Republic of Ireland where we just 'give people a game' ffs

I'm not quite sure what you mean? Who was the last person who wasn't English who played for England?

Hargreaves?
Le Saux?
Le Tissier?
Barnes?

depends on your definition of 'English', which is what this thread is about.

My definition of English, as I posted earlier in the thread, is based on where you and your parents are born.

My Mum is Irish, my Dad is mostly English and part Irish. Makes me Irish and English.

Hargreaves has English parents unless I'm mistaken.

Le Saux is from Jersey and Le Tissier from Guernsey. Hardly similar comparisons to the point I'm making. Do those countries even have national teams that compete in the major tournaments qualifying?

I don't know anything about John Barnes unfortunately.
