Because all the momentum was with Sony after the success of the first playstation so it flew off the shelves.

but if the development software was that bad then there would have been 20 bad games for every good 1, so that momentum would have slowed.

| i just think everyones set out to slag off the ps3 as much as possible. You havent played on one, I havent played on one. It has strong launch titles, it may be 'hard to develop' for but thats because its new. Give it a chance and you'll just see it becomes a success </BLOCKQUOTE>
I want the PS3 to be a success. The more competetion for MS and to Nintendo the better. Means they will have to keep improving there consoles to compete.
However, ive never seen a console getting this must slagging off (from people saying its hard to develop for, to the motion feature is crap to its plain rubbish) before its realised worldwide

| bad dev software does NOT equal bad software.
bad dev software just means its harder and takes more time and money to develop for.

Tbf in my humble opinion the "Sony platforms are difficult to develop for" is used by a fair few developers to explain away the plethora of incredibly average games that come out for the platform. I remember reading two articles in Edge in corresponding months from teams bemoaning the difficulties. As Edge shows the teams previous games, it was quite interesting to see that in both cases the teams previous releases for the PS2 had sucked balls. Can't remember the names of the teams, one was the developers of some destruction derby rip off iirc. Think the other one did battle tanks or something.
Obv there are issues with Sony's platforms, but I reckon it's been built up far more by poor designers.

| I've never seen so many people gleefully leaping on any kind of info about this machine that might show it in a negative light really. It's been quite astonishing really. Sony are number one, and there to be targetted, but the amount of utter speculation that has been presented as fact across various boards I read has been amazing. If Labour need some new spin doctors, they should just look around the console market tbh.

Its reminding me off the Sega V Nintedo war of the early 90's. Everyone spent all their time trying to prove one was better than the other. I remember some sega ad saying they did everything that Nintendo didn't. However this ones a bit more one sided with everyone ignoring 360/Wii problems and only Seeing PS3 problems.
