Developers freaking S's

games dont really fill up dvd9 discs atm so what are they gonna put on the extra like 40 or 50gig? hours and hours of fmv or something

Sony don't care...they have a format war to win...more BR disks get bought/used the more the costs for the disks fall.

If you want to make an omellete you have to break a few eggs...

Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy will be immense :cool:

Only worry is games like MGS, GTA, GT and in particular FF will become too big. Taking hundreds of hours to complete and most will get bored before they do

GT is **** anyway so thats no bother for me.

Oh and can never have too much MGS/Final Fantasy/GTA i don't care about most i'd happily spend 300 hours completing Final Fantasy 13

FF and GTA and MGS are only games i couold play for 300 or so hours, rest i would get too bored of.

But to the average gamer a game that takes that long to complete might not sound appealing

Yeah but everyone expected Sony to come out with a decent pricing policy...they didn't. First time actually where Sony came out with a higher price then people were expecting.

Depending on how much of a loss Sony are taking on the console...the consumer will be expected to pick up some of the difference...as usual.

Looks to me like Sony will ride Blue-Ray "future-proof format and value for money bla bla" sales pitch till the cows come home.

Because certainly anyone buying a PS3 is not paying for a games machine in essence...the bulk of the cost people are stumping up for is for Blue-Ray that Sony has bundled with it...which essentially has nothing to do with gaming.Oh how I wish Sony had just given us a games machine...

Well MGS has always been pretty short so triple it in length and still only talking 40 hours or so(development times probably wouldn't let them do it much longer it takes them long enough to do it when its only a 12 hour completion time )

Final Fantasy doesn't really appeal to the mainstream anyway its people who are into RPG's so don't think they'd complain about length.

Only problem i would see is GTA but think they'd get round that by having a reasonable length storyline but lots of optional storylines/missions ala Zero and the Casino jobs in San Andreas.
