Atari knew it, but didn't have the ability to do anything about it, SEGA and Nintendo just focused on the quality games. The point with Sony is that they took it beyond the usual gamers. That's why they have done so well. Tbh I'd lay the credit far more at their marketing people than anywhere else. Those people deserve a job for life there, with the wage packet to match (which they probably have tbf.)

you're actually wrong with your first comment, but have proven the answer to what will win the format wars with the second part of your post.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, there's three formats in the HD War. The third one doesnt get talked about much...

The Hard Drive.

That one is more likely ultimately to win the format wars. One of the reasons being the one you've given.
