what? why exactly?

I was 100% sure that Mayweather was going to win but yesterday I got some bad news.
De La Hoya is Hatton's promoter and it has been recently announced that DLH wants to fight Hatton at open venue (Dodger Stadium or Wembley), which is ridicoulous because Mayweather and Hatton didn't even fight yet. And two of the three judges that scored De La Hoya vs Sturm fight will also score this fight. We all know what happened in that fight.

that theory makes no sense tbf. DLH will get Hatton if he wants, no matter what happens this weekend, PBF could KO hatton in the 1st and DLH would still want the fight. Why? Yet another big name/challenge for DLH and could possibly end up being the victory he is craving to sign off on.
Also if DLH had that much pull with the judges i think its safe to say Mayweather would not be undefeated after their bout earlier this year. The difference between the superfights (DLH v PBF/Hat v PBF) and Sturm is simply that Sturm was a tune up for DLH for the B-Hop mega $$$ fight and it went tits up on the night and there was no doubt Sturm won the fight but no way was that mega fight not happening. Thats the shitty part of Boxing im afraid but the funny thing is we are all accustomed to it and move on. Something which im sure the British press will just decide to ignite the nation with farcical fury this weekend if Hatton manages to actually win but not get the decision (which could easily happen in Vegas) and pass it off as an OMFG THOSE YANK ***** outrage etc etc </BLOCKQUOTE>
I would lose respect for De La Hoya because he is 5'11 while Hatton is 5'7 and two weight classes bellow him (I believe that Hatton is at his best at 140 and DLH fights at 154). While it is a great business move, he is just fighting a smaller opponent who is no match for him. DLH is suppose to have two more fights before he retires and there has been some talk that he wants Pacquiao, again a smaller fighter.
DLH fighting smaller boxers is unfair, he should step up in weight and fight Kelly Pavlik and then see what happens to him. That is the same as Hatton stepping up in weight to fight DLH.
If Hatton loses I don't really think DLH can fight him. Hatton won't be a big name in US, people will probably just write him off as an overrated boxer who fought against weaker opposition (again depending on how it all plays out). I don't see how DLH could fight him when welterweight divison is so loaded with Cotto (he is no joke, I doubt DLH would step up to him), Williams, Cintron, Margarito and even Malinaggi and Forrest.
To tell you the truth I don't know what happened in that DLH vs Mayweather fight, all I know is that it was terrible.
