I'm sure there have been many posts to this end. I think I've read a few - - but I really am at my wits end.......

Been playing FM for *years* can't remember the first version I bought.
I always play as low league and as local a team to me as is possible, and subsequently have regularly taken some pretty ropey teams to L2 and beyond. But has anyone else experienced such MASSIVE performance swings?!??

I just can't believe this game is modeling real life.
My team (Hampton & Richmond) after shredding the transfer/loan/released market - at which I consider myself a bit of an expert, has a seasoned team, man for man better than most in Blue Sq south, but I am FED Up with the huge results swings.
Last 8 results:
6-1 home
0-6 away (one player scored 5 against me!!!)
3-1 away
5-0 home
2-1 away
1-4 home
0-4 away
4-1 away.

I am no expert - but am fully aware of tactic changes for away/home/weather etc etc etc.. and although I keep my tactics safely consistent, they are never predictable, and always tweak according to opposition.
I am going mad at these ridiculous results. I've never had it like this before in 10 years or so of playing....

All that said - there are some fine improvements in '08 - particularly with the in-game engine pertaining to LLM.

Anyone had massive results swings like this and anyone got any ideas as to why or how to stop it? - - coz I also noticed - you can't discipline the players anymore, for bad performances...!!!!

I'm finding my performance much like 07 - changes are gradual and can usually be reasoned. I'll grant you there are a lot of odd scorelines cropping up, mostly in AI games...

It depends on your tactic. If you play very offensive odd results like that can crop up. If it's successful you score loads. If not, they may counter you to shreds.

That said, I have a fairly balanced tactic, and it still throws up some odd humpings. Usually not in my favour

Yeah - maybe the Attacking mentality is true - and as I said, I am no expert, but I know the game fairly well - eg.. when I arrive at my *home* ground, the opposition, (who are usually 2nd - 5th from bottom) line up with a clearly defensive strat. and don't wanna play - pick me off for 5+ goals. I can't believe it's ALL counter attacks, and it's not like I'm rushing every bugger at them... My players are lightning fast and have L1 quality finishing dribbling etc..
It's the individual player inconsistencies that are winding me up. Typical player form - 9-8-4-5-8-8-6 etc - - against REALLY rubbish opponents....

Anyway, as I said - I'm sure it's happened to everyone - just never to me. (He said, as he sat in the dark, on the edge of the bed, head in hands... "it's never happened before - honest,"... his girlfriend was patient and understanding, "I'm sure it hasn't darling," she sighed...)
