I have paid my money, I'm not doing it for the input into the football club, I'm doing to hopefully add a better football club with greatly improved prospects to an area close to where I was brought up and live now.

They may have an extra 20,000 'fans', but surely as they all own the club, they won't have to pay to attend games.
And what Craig said... I can't see this ending in anything but tears further down the line.
If these 20,000 people had got together and actually formed their own team, then maybe long term it would be much brighter... but to take over a well established club, and a decent non league one at that, I don't see how it will work long term.

| Outside investors who pay your wages, tbh. The new 'owners' dosh pays salaries and funds transfers.
but, yeh, it will go ttis up, for sure.

| I don't see the big stars at Manure, Liverpool ( ) or Chelski complaining all that much.
I think the issue is more that there are 20,000 of them, rather than that they are outside investors.

Wait a second,
it didn't seem like EU was a "well established" club (from what I have read), given that they were going through financial difficulties and even changed the name.
I think that because the model is new, it will have serious problems that will need to be addressed (like everyone chipping in), however, it seems to me that this is the novel way of establishing and supporting teams. Back in the day, this is how teams got started anyway (a bunch of people joining hands and getting things started).
Bottom line, we just have to wait and see what happens...

one of their initial problems Quote:
Ebbsfleet United Football Club : Official Website
As you can appreciate, this website has been inundated with traffic and we will need to upgrade our servers to cope with the demand generated by the EUFC/MyFootballClub announcement.
Please bear with us and we thank you in advance for your patience.

"upgrade our servers" probably actually means "must upgrade from Windows ME"

As long as they don't choose Vista they should be okay.
Julian: It wouldn't be smart to hit the hand that's feeding you, but the Norwegian gone-coach still went out publically and was critical of the take-over in United.
I have to agree with the choir. Doubt this will end well. I have more belief in the AFC Wimbledon-type approaches.

A friend of mine is one of the founding FC United members. He's spitting feathers over this and I don't blame him.
Put money in as a collective and make your own club
Put money in and take over an existing club and then play with it. :thdn:

It's certainly going to go one of two ways - celebrated success or absolute debacle. Nonetheless, it's an interesting experiment, and I only hope it doesn't rob their fans of their favourite team.
