SCM is infamous around these parts
Default The Kettering years begin my LLM update

Following full LLM rules and using Frank to select the team before i started.

Season 1 - 2007/2008 - Blue Square North

My first season in the Kettering adventure begins with being tipped for the championship from the off and board expecting the same. Started off poorly and for most of the season stayed 8-10 points behind the leader in 2nd spot until my lack of cup games began to tell. I slowly pulled in the top team and in a thrilling last day to the season I found myself 1 point ahead requiring a win to confirm the championship and my players did it on the final day.

Staff in - Scout who found all the signings eventually.
Players in – 4, 1 loan, 2 free and 1 bought
Players out - 0

Final Position – 1st Champions
FA Cup – 3rd round losing to Birmingham away
Setanta Shield – x-files united
FA Trophy - x-files united

League: W27 D13 L2 F92 A38 GD+54 P94

Season 2 - 2008/2009 - Blue Square Premier

At the beginning of the season I was tipped for a bottom half finish but on the back of last seasons performances got cocky with telling the board to expect a top half finish. At the start of the season that didn’t look like that would happen with losing 1st 2 games of the season and struggling until I called a team meeting. The experienced players from last year plus the new signings began to gel and slowly the climb began to the top. Again finding myself 8 points behind mid way through the season my lack of cup games swung the balance for me and again it came down to a last game win being required which my team gave me again.

Players in – 3, 1 loan, 7 free and 1 bought
Players out – 2 free

Final Position – 1st Champions
FA Cup – x-files united
Setanta Shield – x-files united
FA Trophy - x-files united

League: W27 D15 L4 F86 A47 GD+39 P96

Season 3 - 2009-2010 – Coca Cola League 2

Not much to mention this season with the bookies being 100% spot on with the relegation fight I would face. This was also the first season on my saved game with the full patch so this added to my frustrations. In the end I got relegated with about 8 games to go and only highlights of the season were the young players I managed to discover through my scouts grabbing them before anyone else did. This in conjunction with my youth players coming through made me happy with what the last 3 years had brought to me.

The close season ended up being one of would I stay, be sacked or jump before I was pushed. In the end I got lucky with the board obviously liking my progress on the pitch and ignoring my financial issues, which were down to the bonuses paid out. So another 2 year contract to look forward to.

In other news and a complete shock with this game Scotland managed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup.

Final position – 24th bottom
FA Cup – x-files united
Setanta Shield – x-files united
FA Trophy - x-files united

League: W6 D13 L27 F54 A107GD-53 P31

The adventure continues and I will update when I manage to complete another season.

I don't get the x-files united bit. Other than that, KUTGW.

X-files united my nickname for the unbelievable grey teams we face, i can only think they are grey aliens the way they play or on serious performance enhancing drugs.

I am guessing the X-files aspect has to do with stuff we rather forget... as to why the files are united, who knows; maybe they come in as a bundle.

Heck, maybe it is a bargain, lose two cups for the price of one...

otherwise, KUTGW!

Forgive is this a stupid question, but who is this Frank that decides teams? I've seen this in a few threads, but don't understand what it means.

Thanks.

Ah, it was all going so well too! Unlucky with the relegation - hopefully you'll bounce back stronger.

Yeah had a read Nobby and pretty much sums up my feelings re the evil grey teams that post.

Tim i had punched above my weight for 2 seasons so to speak, so the relegation wasn't too much of a surprise but at least i kept my job.
