... get thrashed with my Blue Square North team (Media prediction 22nd) in friendlies against non-league teams at the start of the season? They're just unstoppable. I found playing against any League 2 team much easier. Sorry but I'm so frustrated!!!
could be related to the "grey's united" issue...
Although I had the same happen to me in Portugal - as the board reminds me every single chance they have.
if you are frustrated, fill out a form, uncork some wine and keep on playing...
cheers
Don't worry about losing to non league sides. They are not getting the benefit of you as their manager. They are just jealous.
On the bright side, I lost every one of my friendlies. Went into the season with a 4 game disastrous LDLL and then went on a 15 game streak without losing, moving up to 4th in the table. So losing to them grey b@satrds isn't the end of the world.
As for your issue I've suffered the same fate, 6 friendly defeats destroyed my teams morale so badly we've started the league campaign with a 9 games winless run.
Not sure if it's an issues with Greys in non-league teams, or if it just takes a while for your team to gel and get used to your tactics.
It's almost as if the function that deals with a new player coming into the squad and taking time to settle in, is affecting the whole squad at the start, as if they've never seen each other before.
But as the others above and yourself, I had the same problem, with horrendous scores in pre-season. If I only conceded 5, I was classifying that as a good performance.
New season started poorly, then things began to pick up. A little patience then you should see a difference.
I play friendlies like I play cupgames, I honestly don't give a flying f**k about them. I never look at result of friendlies since my assistant can do the dirty job. Sometimes the board moan about losing big in a friendly, I tell them to **** off and start worrying about the important things in life like generating money for the club.
Confidence used to annoy me pre beta patch to the extent that I'd cancel my friendlies and get my players match fit by myself. Nowadays I lose most of them, but it's not a big deal. Celtic tend to lose all their games in July but they seem to be doing alright.
