That is true. But I was talking about LLM and there scouts are needed as it's the only way to find out info on players. If we could have try-out days on the other hand....

I don't necessarily look to buy players, nor do I look to avoid it. If my scout says someone is better than our current lot, and they're willing to join, and I can afford them, I'll sign them up.

However, if I know I don't have a decent player in a certain position, I'll search my scout reports for a decent play for that positions.

I'm with Pangaea, I'm always trying to find improvements to the squad.

The new coach report system makes things a lot easier to compare and contrast what I've got, but I never go solely on the scout or coach's opinion. It's just extra information to help me make a decision.

You will always have weaker areas so I am constantly trying to find better options than I have got. Scout goes out, scout comes back. Scout goes out, comes back. Rinse, lather and repeat.

Even if I don't need options right now, the scout being out, and gathering information about players, will help me if a hole appears in my squad from an unexpected offer from another club that my chairman accepts

Then I can just find the best replacement that I can afford.

I tell you what I did: I signed my assman as a scout (he wasn't interested in any other position ?!?) then placed an ad for assistant and signed one 1 month later for free.

Personally, I have usually more problems finding a physio willing to work with my team. If I have no scouts I just advertise until I am sacked or one agrees to sign for me, and in the meantime if I need players, I offer contracts to my grays. This is my usual way of filling the squad (strengthening would be too big a word) in the first season. Later on, if you advertise, they will come, so to say.

In my first save since the patch, I've been able to find scouts through the job centre :thup:
