I am not sure why, but the new version of FM is just failing to capture my interest. It is far from the exciting hours of play of FM06. Does anyone feel the same way or should I start looking for a shrink in the yellow pages?
But then again it's fairly normal that one version of FM grabs you way more than the other. 06 & 07 both never really bothered me much, except for the online LLama saves. Had an ownage save in the Nordics in FM05 and am heavily addicted again in FM08
I had some trouble getting into 08, but I'm playing more than ever lately.
Maybe it's a good idea to load up just one league, perhaps even in a country with a short season (Iceland and Sweden spring to mind.). I started numerous saves, all with a large number of leagues loaded, and never really got in to them because it took 10 minutes to get from one game to another.
Now I've started a save that was only supposed to last 'till the patch arrived (Sweden, Gundo's challenge) but it turns out this may be one of my most fun saves in a while. Because it's quick the team really start growing on me (one week in and almost 3 seasons played).
It's not just you. I've yet to be grabbed by FM, to be honest. I've had a save in Eastern Europe and two in England. None have gotten me focused for a while, and haven't gotten me playing those late night saves that I just don't want to go to sleep during.
It might be, though, that COD4 and Assassin's Creed have been distracting me, instead.
I'm well into FM08 now, even after my whinge about the bugs and issues with the game. I'm in my second season, and my second club already. Somehow, my saves always seem to take me to Northern Ireland!
