From Gander Green to The New Eyrie via Clarence Park

Active leagues: England, Germany, Denmark and Czech Rep.

I am about to begin the 5th season. I have just started at my 3rd club after two 2 year spells. Both of these spells seem strange similar.

I started of at Sutton United located in southern London and pleying in the Blue Square South. The board gave me mo money to buy players for, and a fairly tight wage budget, and no parent club. First thing to do was to ask the board to find a feeder club. They got me a League 1 club - brilliant. I found a few free transfers which i signed on, and i also found 2 players from the League 1 club that i got on loan during the first season.

The boards long term expectations was to "establish as a mid table team". I out did that in the first season and won the league. won: 26 drn: 15 Lst: 1 G.D: 39 Pts: 93. Getting 2 manager of the month awards aswell as the manager of the yard trophy. Excellent. Next season in the Blue Square Premier, started of with me signing a new physio, and 2 free transfers, plus releasing a bunch of the poor players. During the season i signed 4 players from the League 1 club (which had been promoted into a championship club) on loan. Expectations was to avoid relegation. Again i had successful season finishing 11th Won: 19, Drn: 8, Lst: 19, GD: -6, Pts: 65. The economy was very health following an away FA Cup derby against Tottenham. My contract with the team was coming to an end, and i was certain that renewing it would be just a formality - after all i was a quite successful. But.....

The club wanted to "take a new direction" so i was unemployed..... after 2 month of applying to vacant jobs i was finally offered 2 jobs: Thisted in Danish 2nd Division West and St. Albans in Blue Square South. Looking carefully at both clubsi eventually decided that St.Albans possessed the greatest quality, S0 a few 100 kms to the north i go.

Mission objectives: Midtable position and controlled economy within 2 years. The seeder club was a poor League 2 club with 2 feeder clubs from outside the playable leagues. St.Albans had a negative economy at £-100000, so naturally there was again no money for purchases. so i signed on a few players which had been released by the new manager at Sutton, the players the League 2 team was willing to let move on loan was utterly rubbish. I finished the season yet again successfully with another league win. Won: 22, Drn: 19, Lst: 1, GD: 30, Pts: 85. Next season started with me signing on just 2 new players and then still using the base of the previous seasons squad. The boards ambition was to avoid relegation i finished the season in 18th position with a clear margin to the drop zone. Won 13, Drn, 17, Lst: 16, GD:-10, Pts: 56. This season includes a quater final in the Setanta Shield. The long term ambition of handeling the economy as done with excellence, having changed the negative $-100000 into a positive £4 mil profit. At the end of the season the Chairman decides to sell the club. But 1 month later i get released again. Again with the note that the club wants to take a new direction.

2 weeks of unemployment with numerous applications i get offered the possition at Bedford - a little further north of St.Albans. Bedford has spent the first 2 seasons as non-league and then 2 seasons in the Blue Square south finishing 22nd twice. But for the first time i have cash to spend on players - I have a magnificent £150000. I think i will use most of it, as the club really needs a totally new defensive line.

The questions i ask myself now is:
-Will I win the Blue Square South for the 3rd time?
-Will i get released again after 2 years when my contract expired, or will they renew it?
-Was i too successful at Sutton and St.Albans?

My general approach to the trade is much alike that of Martin O'Neills carreer - Start at a low club and work your way up the divisions.

Just a word of advice, in real life there are no feeder clubs in England - so try and avoid this, else there are some people here that will get a tad upset and yell at you...

also, no player/coach naming...

otherwise, keep roaming the English LLM netherworld!

First thing I saw was the feeder thing.

Feeder clubs are banned by the F.A.

I didn't even get that far.

I would prefer a less congested layout.

Follow the path Chreutope.

Chreurope, as Happy says, feeder clubs aren't permitted in the UK. It's clear that you're not English from how you've written your post, so that's something you need to take on board for your game.

Read the header. This sounds very much like a non-llama game...

Actually that's a common, and annoying, misconception.

There's nothing to stop him naming Martin O'Neill or any other managers or coaches. If you read the header, they will be removed at the Mods' discretion.

Unless anyone's still playing FM1978, there's little chance of anyone signing him for their team.
