I understand some people don't want to use the editor which is fair enough but in this context I thought it was a fair suggestion since the motives were honourable & the primary aim of 'realism' is being met.
If used without cheating I personally see no problem with using the editor as IMO it is the only way to get as close to a realistic game as possible, as for example some of the free agents on the game actually have a club.

I understand where you're coming from. Thang is, if you're updating for one club, even one league, but not each and every one of the x hundred other teams, then however well meaning your edits were you're introducing an imbalance. Even if you were editing every single club, you're deciding what's realistic, which in itself is unrealistic.

We do not use the editor. Period. If you have an opinion on editors making anything realistic, you're not in the right place.

Whilst in the third tier of Swedish football in my current save in FM08 I was sent a striker from my parent club in the top tier.
He was capped for Somalia and scored 28 goals in 19 appearances for me, after that I sent him back. He wasn't even that good, just better than everything else I had.
Probably a tad unrealistic to have him play for me, but the Swedish leagues are a lot less vertical than in England so I just thought that he would probably be fine to do the same in real life.
Naturally he said no to a permanent move when the opportunity arose |

His first game against us we lost 6-5, he scored all 6 goals!
Does this ever happen in-real-life? Being from Chicago I don't get the opportunity to watch any games from England besides Championship and EPL.
| lol sad to say I did exactly that as manager of AFC Wimbledon, i got a Crystal Palace young reserve striker on loan valued at 1.5 mill and a midfielder at 500k...needless to say that wasn't an LLM game.

I've found many players go on such silly moves on regular loans, so it's not simply a affiliate problem. I think it's more serious than that. Players left out (-ish) are so willing to get first team football, they will jump on just about any offer that comes along. Hence players good enough for the top 2-3 leagues go down to the lowest level, and then rip it apart.

Certainly my loanees are not setting the league alight. Some of the AI loanees are doing well but not unnaturally so.
I did buy an ageing player with recent Premier league experience. He has not turned out any better than my current players and the fans are not happy with me signing him.

You don't see situations like this happen IRL do you? I mean, does a player in the Crystal Palace Reserve Team go on loan to Newport for a season just to get 'First Team' experience?
Also, there's been several times where my scout has found some good players on League 2 Reserve teams (really good compared to the crap thats on my squad) that have turned down my offers for loan. So I don't know if this is a bug, setting or characteristic of certain players that will let them play for the lowest division teams.
It's not a game-breaker for me at all, I just look at it as another hurdle to jump as my team battles there way through the division. |

| I used to have that guy in my squad when playing my Akropolis save, although in the second tier. A real useless carp ST, if I recall it correctly |
