Default South American journey - upwards and downwards...

3 seasons done - time for an update.

LLM rules strictly followed - south american leagues loaded in full en,it,sp just first divisions.

Season 2007-2008 - Arturo Fernandez Vial

Board wanted a respectable position.I was on 7 after the 2nd round was played but the board decided to sack me.Nice way to start my campaing GRRR.

Went on holiday and got a desperate call fo help from Tiro Federal to save them from relegation.I accepted and managed to win 2-0 in the 2nd round after they had lost 2-1 in the first one.

First of all I DO NOT understand the s****y rule about average game/point rule and MEtropolitan,Interior zone.If there is somebody familiarsied with this please enlighten me.Also I do not understand how come one team can save herself from relegation with equal results just for "higher seeding"?!?!

Whatever I decided I could manage to keep Tiro Federal up and I sticked with them.

Season 2008-2009.Played relatively well, Finished 12th but I went into relegation playoff due to that f*****g rule.I had a half of team with injuries and the ones valid were foreigners so Tiro Federal was relegated and I got sacked.2/2 100% efficiency.

Season 2009-2010. Newly promoted All Boys decided I am the perfect man to keep them up in their first season. I managed a 7th place finish which won me the overachievers of the year. The team was pretty good but lacked some depth so now I managed to bring in about 20 new players for the 4th season. The board initially did not want to increase the wage structure but after an ultimatum they DID So they had the money the bloody bast@rds....

Nueva Chicago got relegated after finishing in 8th due to the UNunderstandable rule.

All in all All Boys expectations are "enjoy the participation" so 7th pfinish brought me the appreciation of the job something to do with my "stellar work".

So back to the drawing board season 4 in on his way.

Good update cat,

the average points rule that occurs in Latin American countries is a funky one:

It is the ratio of games played and points earned in each campaign, but it is calculated as a running average of the three last seasons. This prevents well-established teams to plummet to a lower division if they had a bad season; it also makes those newly-promoted teams really sweat their behinds to avoid relegation.

Of course, in lower leagues it is really hard to gain promotion, as you need three good seasons to accumulate enough points to make the jump to the next level.

This method avoids a yoyo effect, however I am not sure how effective it is. It may also help stabilize teams financially (e.g. not have a major surplus one season due to promotion, and then have everything taken away the next, when the team is relegated).

Thanks for the info Sancho

I checked that game table about the avg points and I will have to be aware of that for the next season.I have a bad feeling about it...

welcome!

I find playing in Argentina quite fun, specially since you have above-average players (relative to other lower leagues), well, most times.

If you think the point system is bizarre, wait until you start thinking of international cups! The Copa Sudamericana (IRL final this week!!) - in the fall season, and the Libertadores (IRL starts in Jan or Feb) in the spring have a very strange qualifying system.

I forget which cup has two teams from Argentina qualify automatically for historical reasons, for example.

Anyway, all I can say is WAHGERTY!11

As a matter of fact this is exactly what I was thinking. How come I have only 30+ years old players here. I guess the good young ones are swapped by 1st division teams.

And everything around seems strange but I'm enjoying it

I'm still schocked Nueva Chicago got relegated although finishing in 8th. And something else I do not understand. The teams that play with you in Rel Playoff seem to be at least Boca Juniors + River Plate if you look at their players.

And there is also strange the fact that even though for example Italiano beat me they did not get promoted?!??! Any ideas Sancho or a link with all these rules - could not find them on the net although I googled them

Right,
I should've made it clearer that the ratio works both ways, for relegation purposes as well as promotion...

The average is calculated for both seasons within a year (Apertura y Clausura), however, entering international Cups is determined by the winers of each season.

It is a frustrating system when you are trying to rise through the ranks, but once you make it above average, it gives you some cushion.

I think it is a better system than say the Belgian approach for playoffs

And yes, Boca and River have a major monopoly in the Argentinian game... It can really suck in the lower division when you are playing against top quality squads...
