Over recent weeks, I've become an avid reader of LLM Forum. I have been converted by the many varied musings of threads. So, I'd thought I'd give it go. So, I loaded up Frank and he sent me to a quaint little place just outside Naples, Italy. Paganese, how appropriate for old heathen. Must be lots of my brethren living there!
So off I went, leaving all my heathen waysbehind, in a vain hope to convert the Pagani folks.

Season 2006/07 Serie C2/B
Board, Fans - Fight bravely against relegation.
Prediction - 14th (of 18)
Finished - 10th P:34 W:13 D:7 L:14 F:60 A:46 Pts:46
Man, what a tough league! Its so close between everyone, save 1 or 2 at the top. Bounced around between the Playoffs and Playouts all season.But sealed safety from relegation Playouts with 2 games to spare. In attack we were great, but the defence leaked like a sieve.
My scouts found some great players, problem was none of them wanted to sign for me? But managed to sign a couple of veterans in January who proved the difference for us in the long run. Club bleeds 50k a month in losses.

Cups - Knocked out in group stage of Serie C Cup(actually knocked out is an understatement, thoroughly had our arses whipped!) Cups do suck arse!
Interesting point: Started season with a good 1st team winger on a Global ban until December? Hmmm...I'm thinking ban was for match fixing given that its Italy?

Season 2007/08 Serie C2/B
Board/fans - Safe mid-table / Rebuild the team.
Prediction - 10th (of 18)
Finished - 1st P:34 W:18 D11 L:5 F:65 A:34 Pts: 65 Promoted
I'll say it again, Man, what a tough league! We could never get a run going, but somehow by early March we were top, never to relinquish it. Not sure how we did it? December/January, I had a total of 16 injuries and suspensions, including 9 of my 1st team regulars! A DC signing via a trial from last year stepped up and a 40 y-o veteran GK direct from the Serie A were the difference. Club still bleeds 50k a month in losses, but board invest about 300k this season to keep us away from bankruptcy! I have not even come close to using the ridiculous wage budget they gave me.

Fans POTY - Primadonna 29 y-o ST Avg:7.15 19 goals (34 apps)
Cups - Serie C Cup, qualified from Group only to be given a pasting in Qualifying 1 stage by Venezia (0-5 agg)
Serie C2 Super Cup, had no idea it existed, thought my season was over after winning, but was startled to realise there was more!! Managed to squeeze a win by the skin of my teeth somehow. had to rely on other results as I sat by and watched.
Interesting note - My 40 y-o GK has decided to retire after 1 season with me, but manage to get him as a GK coach!

Season 2008/09 Serie C1/B

Wow! what a season, I was confident of avoiding relegation but by the January break, I was sitting on top. Almost no injuries, or suspensions, I knew it couldn't last. By Febuary, things are in serious aquaplane! Go on a 8 game winless streak (2D, 6L) and plummet to 6th, but somehow, not sure how, from then on we play badly , but others in contention, play worse?? Our home form is abysmal, but our away form is great? Go figure? We end up 3rd and in the playoffs. We draw 4th place Avellino and after a 1-0h and a 0-1a (1-1agg) we win based on our better record against them in the regular season. Then we get 2nd placed Frosinone in the playoff final and I think its all over after a 2-0 home defeat in the first leg! So I throw caution to the wind in the return leg, get the players fired up and we win 3-0. YaY! Promoted!!

Players out - 12 for 0k (actually receive my first transfer income late in the year when my rather good AssMan is signed by Serie B club with 3 weeks left on his contract, receive a whopping 1K , he wouldn't resign anyway)

Interesting Note - Player who had Global ban back in season 1, was sent off for headbutt in friendly got 8 match ban from FA, I only warned him and he said i was victimising him?? Go figure!Bye Bye, I say!

P.S.- Have already played most of season 4, but will post it later as this post is already way to big. As a prelude, I can tell you, I was right to be very concerned that last season was a fluke!

nice thorough update. Make sure you brush up on some inflation theory (or yo-yo theory in some books)... if you go up so fast, the team may collapse for lack of structure. So you better start looking for a sugarmomma...

As an interesting footnote, I did, of course, do the google/wiki search on Paganese.
In the game we start with a 7000 all-seat stadium. One look at their website says its not that.

A 4789 capacity, my italian is awful but, its certainly not all seater. And by the looks of it, you'll need binoculars to see any action?
Although, interestingly, I note, they are this season in the Serie C1/B (promoted) but struggling in the lower half of the table.
