In the absence of Frank it was the random generator until I got a 'proper' LLM compliant side. By proper I mean with a kit and a badge. I am funny like that.
REDDITCH UNITED - Blue Sqaure North - 2007/08
The board said don't become the whipping boys and they'd be chuffed. I leaked about £10k a month despite being within the wage budget.
The only scout I could get appeared useless but he'd do and he did to his credit pick out a good CB - probably more luck than judgement.
Working with the unlikely lads I had I tended to defend and time waste and hoof it long making the most of what I had.
Despite a record of W4 D4 L2 from the first 10 games which I was chuffed with and a position of 8th, the board wanted more.
A 6 game losing slump with a goal score saw me fall into the bottom 3 which I flirted with most of the season.
Luckily a striker who'd been sat in the reserves all season got a chance through a crippling injury list and hit 6 in 9 games to see us finish with a flourish and avoid relegation by 7 points.
Expectation 22nd
Finished 17th
Money -£86k
Top scorer - Lucky blind target man 9
Assists - Quality LM 12
Safe for now!!!
REDDITCH UNITED - Blue Square North - 2008/09
Such is the lower league scene I released allowed contracts to expire on 14 players retaining only 12 players who'd done a good enough job for me the last year.
Luckily my scout had been able to identify a number of recommended players during the previous season. After further scouting of a pretty large group of players I was able to find 8 players that I wanted to bring into my squad, all of whom I felt would add serious quality to the side. 7 of them agreed to join with one disillusioned sole believing I was going to break the wage structure for him. How he was wrong.
The difficult decision was to decide how much to change the tactics. I wasn't sure how good my squad might be and whether I should stick with trying to avoid relegation again or aim higher and try and get at my opponents.
The board were happy enough to survive and so were the fans. The media however surprisingly had me at fairly short odds to be promoted and I was expected to finish 12th. Having hugely reduced the wage bill I was asked to try and generate some cash. Not very likely with the squad I had but I could only try.
The season was a strange one. My team gelled and I hit 4th spot and stayed there until November where a poor run of form left me as low as 14th. I recovered with a fantastic run towards the end of the season and surprisingly a striker retained from the last campaign to create goals turned out to be a lethal poacher and played a large part in a very satisfying 9th place finish.
Expectation 12th
Finished 9th
Money -£102k
Top scorer - Suprisingly decent striker 18
Assists - Same Quality LM 11
Bring on next year.
REDDITCH UNITED - Blue Square North - 2009/10
10 players shown the door. 10 came in. For the first time I can say that I have the exact squad I wanted. Cover in all areas and quality aplenty.
It was still hard attracting some of the bigger players for this level but I get the feeling Redditch's central location in the UK does come in handy now and then for attracting some unlikely stars.
In contrast to last season 2 draws and 3 defeats from what looked a relatively straightforward start to the season had me worried. A ridiculous suicide mission from Blyth got my first win. 1-0 down their keeper first blocked a shot and stood on his line with the ball yards away letting my striker run 10 yards to tap in. Was the keeper injured? Hard to tell. But it was the strangest thing I had seen until about a minute in real time later when I got the winner. The left back for Blyth passing accross his own box past the keeper under no pressure to the centre half who seemed to run 8 yards into his own net. I'd be surprised if an ex Liverpool keeper and Wimbledon striker who hosted Gladiators weren't involved!
After that I was a joy to watch. A 16 match unbeaten run coincided with FA Cup time. An FA Cup second round 5-1 slapping at League One side Preston was a godsend as the revenue basically got most of my debt cleared.
Despite finishing 6th
I was never in with a shout of the playoffs as the top 5 were a good 15 points clear of the rest for most of the New Year. Still excellent progress.
Expectation 5th
Finished 6th
Money -£26k
Top scorer - Lanky legend 13
Assists - Youth AM 8
I'd give him the benfit of the doubt, from the partial sentences I can read on the post search, they seem to be of a graphical nature (badges etc you pervs). Don't do it again though, Jenninga.
And exactly what is wrong with his post that would make you question if he is LLM or not? He seems to be playing within the rules of the forum and even within the guidelines.
The one thing I really get ****ed off with in this forum is new users jumping on people to tell them what is LLM and what isn't. Perhaps if you bothered to check what he was posting in the Editors forum before you take your condescending tone you may realise that he has done nothing wrong.
Guess what, I used to talk to Graeme Kelly (The one who created the editor) quite often and even got him to sort out my free game. Now please try and tell me I am not a LLaMa and see what sort of response you get.
The only problem with his post was how bloody long it was.
