Default Hairdrier treatment? I'll use my spitfire

So after leaving my previous 2007 save behind to tackle FM08 I decided to start off with Eastleigh in Blue Square South.

2007/08 Season
Picking up the reigns I looked over the squad and was about to send my scout out but he was poached before I had chance. Unfortunately I was unable to sign a scout all season so was confined to what I had. With the board and fans after a mid-table finish I duly delivered. Some good performances and the odd streak or two. Not a bad season overall and was quite pleased that I didn't slip into the drop-zone at all.

2008/09 Season
Finally got a scout signed up, plus a fitness coach and started to look for signings to bolster the squad. However, being deep into the red I had no money in the coffers and so I brought in 2 players on loan. The loan striker ended up as the clubs top scorer with 30 goals in the season, 24 in the league. A streak of wins and draws saw us move up the table and saw us finish in the play-off positions. A easy semi-final meant we were looking at possible promotion. However with a sending off in the first minute things didn't go our way and lost 2-0. On loan striker picked up player of the season award and our finances improved a lot.

2009/10 Season
Eighteen players out in the close season brought the wage bill down. This allowed for a little restructure to see if I could bring in a player or two. Brought in one loan and two free transfers to help out. Unfortunately after really starting well the loan player broke his foot and was sent back to his club. Towards the end of the season three more players were brought in although by now we'd sealed another playoff spot. This year however, a late strike in the 2nd leg of the semi-final meant we missed out on promotion for a second successive season. The season was a success though as we looked a lot more dangerous going forward and a heck of a lot more stable at the back.

Guess you shouldn't have taken play-off tips from a former Ipswich & current Southampton boss.

No, you don't want to take ANY tips from said boss. As a Southampton fan, I can vouch for the bloke being completely clueless and hopefully he'll resign soon, seeing as Saints can't afford to pay the compensation if they sack him!!

Anyway, back on topic, great to see an Eastleigh save, especially as it's a lot more successful so far than mine was.

Good effort. Gutted about losing in two play off semis, but at least you're up and about in the right half of the league
