Thanks for that Riz, it's nice to know you guys are reading the threads and taking things on board.
I think thinks like the Board Room and Confidence are huge plus points for FM, but as you say they could be enhanced more.
Like you said a manager doesn't really have a say on the financial side of things, apart from signings, bonus's and contract wages. Anything else in the expenditure spreadsheet shouldn't be blamed on the manager.
This is Football Manager, if you want to own your own team and be the chairman, there are plenty of crap games out there for people to buy!!!

Yay for irrational boards. Mine keep complaining about my "apparent lack of concern" regarding the club;s bank balance. Never mind that I shipped out my two best players in an attempt to halve the balance and bring the wages in-budget again...
We've also had a chat about the board comments about the club's financial situation and we will be reviewing them in the future. Some of them do appear quite harsh considering the manager can only do his part in keeping spending down and has very little affect on the other financial income and expenditure. However, the effect of the finances on the overall board confidence is not that big compared to how you are performing, so as long as you do your part and stay within the budgets given and also get decent results, it should be fine with the board. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Well, fair enough I did slip slightly over my wage budget, and the bank balance was.. well... bad. At least I don't need to fear for my job while I'm doing well on the field, just because the board are unhappy with the finances...
also, to the SI staff for being on-hand like that </BLOCKQUOTE>
I'm going to have to correct myself here. I am within budget, top of the table, 8-game unbeaten run. Only bad thing is the club's bank balance. Board feel I should be doing better, and are angry. Problem is that the board won't assess my league position next season until after a few games, so how am I going to survive if my on-field performances aren't relevant?!
I suppose I should have been more careful financially last season, but still. It's a bit annoying.
I'm glad the board finances situation is being looked at, it's not very realistic for a board to be 'distraught and devastated' at you even though you have no control over your finances.
It's Football Manager, not Football Chairman or Football Bank Manager.
The board should do their thing and let me do mine.
In terms of stadium expansion, it's hardly Skershaw's fault that the ground had to be expanded so the board should take that into consideration.

It's like I'm being punished for being successful!!!
I know that Norway is an expensive place to live and go on holiday, but surely my board could have gone for a cheaper company to build the new stand.
£4.6 million seems quite expensive for a 3,000 seater stand.
Also seems alittle unrealistic when my turnover for the whole of last season was about 250k, and my profit made was -50k, will take a lifetime to make that amount of money back on the investment.
I hope that the fans come out in force for the clubs first ever season at this level, that would help my bank balance, hopefully we'll have more than the 71 season tickets sold last year!!!!

After I had almost got Oggersheim promoted and the board were delighted with my performance as manger, the bonuses put me £100K in debt. As soon as the new season started, they forgot about last season's achievements and said I wasn't doing my job properly anymore because of the financial problems. So they went from loving to hating me in 1 day. Grateful people...

The company probably said it would cost a fiver to upgrade
It's just so fecking typical. These contract-costs (IRL) are just a joke.
"Aye, it'll cost 100 million. Sure thing!"
3 months later when building is nearing completion.
"Sorry, but the price will go up a little bit. It's now 500 million"
3 months later
"Err, sorry again. Prices on material have gone up a bit lately, so now the prize is up to 800 million".
This is almost RL stories btw. It's just a ****ing laugh!
Thanks for the feedback, Riz  Last year I mentioned that there should be something like a stadium standard for leagues, as I found it pretty strange to play in the Swedish top tier in my 750-capacity ground I hope it will surface in the game sooner or later.
Skershaw! What are the attendances at your games in the 8,500-seater? Last year I found a minor bug, because I went to play in Hammarby's stadium for 9 months (my ground was upgraded), and I inherited their attendance levels :p
Luckily for me it was a big team, not a non-league club, but it was weird.
