Default Why are the moderators so touchy?

You are not allowed to brag. Fair enough.

But when asked the question what's the further you took an LLM team isn't the response an answer rather than bragging?

Is it acceptable for somebody who took their team nowhere to say 'I spent 18 years at Dorchester and got promoted once' but not someone else to say 'I spent 18 years at Dorchester and got them into League 1'?

It's bragging if you intimate it Iajafer surely? If you are answering a question it is just a fact.

What level do you have to get to for it to become bragging?

Seriously lighten up man. Have a Kit-Kat or something. It seems you close every post you want without actually considering the substance behind it.

I said I wasn't bragging I was just answering a question. I was proud of what I achieved for sure.

But it's not like I started a threat saying aint I great look how far I got!

It's the mod's ruining this place half the time.

Read the header. It says that this place is for people without the need for bragging.

The question itself invites bragging, thus the question itself is already a thing we don't really take seriously.

In a different context, telling what you achieved (including the correct level of modesty about it) would be just fine.

The moderators have spent thousands of hours in this place. Trust me, they know what LLM is about better than you. Complaining about them in a childish fashion just makes you look like a fool.

Your post may have been harmless enough, but that sort of thread is an open invitation to idiots to come in and start bragging, so it's best to get it closed before that happens.

And moderators, by definition, are moderate

I sincerely think there isn't much wrong with stating our achievements. However, the thread you are referring to was simply a bragging thread. There is no need for such a thread in here.

If you want to share your achievements you can do this in your update thread, or perhaps a short remark in the What's keeping me going thread.

I'll happily look like a fool

I have no problem with the majority of mod's but Iajafer in particular seems to close whatever he fancies down without any regard for whether it meets the headers of not

I would say his interpretation of most things is not the same as the average person, where as in hindsight the other mods more often than not are pretty fair about things

FFS this is a LLM forum. Of course people want to know how far you've taken a club. That's part of it.

We take our minnow up a division or two if we can and we are bloody chuffed when we do it whilst adhering to the LLM values.

If anyone here has done so I want to know. It's nice to hear someone has gone up 3/4 divisions but then everything has caught up with them, the fan base doens't develop beyond a certain limit, players won't sign for such a low reputation club etc etc.

We are obviously interested in what other LLaMa's do. Just because someone explains what they have achieved doesn't mean it's bragging.

Also there is no formula for the right amount of modesty is there. So again this is at a mods descression.

Talking of looking silly and childish would you not agree a moderators job would be to state 'I interpret this to be bragging and as it contravenes the header I am going to close the thread'.

Instead the mod swore at people who'd innocently posted to his disliking and closed it whilst no doubt throwing toys out of a pram.

If mod's are going to act like that then what sort of example does that set?

Most of you will know I happily post here most days without a problem but I don't see any problem in speaking my mind. I'm not here to cause trouble but I will say I consider mod's should act more maturely than swearing at people and closing the thread.

A number of valid points.

Surely then the mod should state Klipdrift said? Well done Sir.

Then everyone knows what they need to do for future reference. Swearing doesn't do this.

There's no need for Ian, Pete, Craig or even Glynn or Matt to state why they close a thread.

It doesn't take a PhD to understand that such a thread could only end in massive bragging and mayhaps even tears.

Moderators know when to close a thread and it was time that one got closed.

If new people here don't understand it now, they sure will by 2011 if they're still around.

I think all the moderators on this forum tend to close threads which have no place on the forum.
I think Ian's comment were on the thread overall, not just your answer, Jenninga. The thread was degenerating, like most threads on here, into off-topic drivel.

There really is no need for a mod to state the things I said because they are quite obvious.

Although, I must agree with you that I did make some valid points.

Grrr... Now you have me bragging

Every so often threads on that topic appear. they always either end up as bragging threads or off topic drivel.

The mods made the right choice.
