After seeing the mighty Runcorn go out of business after FM05, I picked up where I left off with Scarborough in FM07. Unfortunately Scarborough also folded in real life. Due to circumstances involving my laptop and dangerous electrical wiring I never got to get very far into my season and haven't played the game in some time, not since before the Seadogs folded.
Having just got a decent shiny new laptop I've made it my quest to rescue Scarborough from the brink. Whilst I've sorted the playing squad out and am fighting for promotion (even after the starting ten-point deduction) my finances are completely out of control. I'm losing roughly £30k a month (the repayments on the £1.5m bank loan are 28k each month), and despite arranging four high profile friendlies against Leeds and Ipswich at the start of the season the money is running out. It also doesn't help that an eighth of my wage budget is being spent on one player, who is incredibly poor, and who nobody would ever want to buy from me. A further £800 or so is also tied up in poor fringe players, but as with the other guy, nobody in their right mind would ever want them.
So, is it at all possible to save Scarborough or are they doomed to go bankrupt?
I wasn't asking an advice, more just setting up where I'm hopefully going to be going, and also trying to generate interest. I wasn't aware of the three season rule, so I'll get back then. If the club still exists.
