Anything arcade-y and gimmicky like this gets short shrift from me. and what's with allowing some of those player names to stand, Ian?

It's a bad idea because, although I could set myslef up as manager of a club in this game, I want the rest of it to be as realistic as possible, and the fact is I don't play at anything like the level required even in the Blue Square regional divisions.

You seem to be forgetting that some of us are in our late 20's and early 30's.

Yes, if I was 59 I wouldn't be ready to form a formidabble strike partnership with one of my players.

But if I was a 35 year old LlaMa I'd like the idea.

In real life I know someone very well who is one of the 5 shortlisted to become the new Farsley boss (apologies if it's now been announced but I am talking yesterday) and he was definately going there to play. He also plays FM games so from his point of view if he gets the job and wants to manage Farsley he'll want to play too!

I did say initially there would be lots of opposition but also it does fit in with real life. There ARE player / managers and therefore I would expect a realistic management sim to offer the same facility even if most people didn't want to use it.

Reallistically speaking 99.99% of people on this forums wouldn't make the grade as Conf N/S players.

Now... please tell me exactly how do you reconcile this and making yourself a player/manager?

I too think it's a bad idea but I guess if you do happen to be a player for a conference north or south team then it would be unrealistic just very unlikely.

Yes, but Jenninga, if he gets the job and becomes player/manager there any future data updates from SI will have him in the squad already, so he won't need to add himself as a player/manager.

We could also add that 99.99% of us do not have the required knowledge, skills or qualifications to manage a club any higher than local/county leagues.

As I've already stated I'm not in favour of the idea however I can see the logic behind it, having a believable & realistic playing history is another matter entirely.
