Frank seems to have a habit of sending me to teams starting on a points deduction. This time it was KFC Verbroedering Geel - Geel for short!
2006-2007 Belgian Div3A - Geel
So I'm placed in charge of recently relegated Geel, starting on a 6 point deduction. The board ask for a respectable position in the division. The fans are furious that their chairman has put me in the driving seat. But a good run of results leaves them feeling pleased by October.
We set up links with Genk, and they send 2 players on loan. Scouts are good too, finding a Dutch striker who wins best signing of the year.
By the end of the season, things are on a knife edge. We need to win our last match to gain automatic promotion, and hope that the team in 2nd place lose or draw. The miracle happens, and we're going up! PROMOTION!!!
I sign a new 2 year contract.

2007-2008 Belgian Div2 - Geel Board: Fight relegation. Media: 9th.
The new season starts with a small clearout of the deadwood players, and 3 new signings (who all perform well). We make a strong start to the season, and finish in the top 5 by Christmas. Form takes a sharp dip after New Year, and I'm left fielding what seem to be turkeys that Bernard Matthews wouldn't even want. Eventually, we finish 10th.
But the season isn't quite over. We qualified for a playoff spot during the first period of the season, and find ourselves in the promotion playoffs! But a disappointing performance leaves us 3rd out of 4, and stuck in Div2.

In other news, there is a Geel board takeover. Fortunately, I keep my job, and the new chairman gives me a 2 year contract to sign!
