About the 1 on 1 situation . . .

From my own extensive footballing experience, (ie playing Pro Evo) I've found these are a lot harder than they look.

When the goalie is right in front of you it's tricky to curve the ball round him without him deflecting it.

It's actually easier to score from a distance, where you're free to pick out an undefended part of the net.

I wouldn't doubt that they are harder than they look, but for world class players it is not hard.

IRL if a striker for a big club missed as many 1-on-1's as they do in this game he would be hung by his nards at city hall.

I really wish they would try and chip around, or run around the rushing goalie occasionally as well. I have never seen it in the game but it happens a fair bit IRL

Yeah in another game it's maybe difficult, but not in RL. All the skilled strikers score 90% of their 1 on 1. There are enough options: lob the GK, round him, the most funny thing: through the legs, etc... In FM08, none of your strikers seems possible to do this.
