So the "ask for a huge price" trick doesn't work anymore ? Post #11 | | Member

I find that selecting reject from the news screen usually results in the player becoming unhappy.
If you go view offer, then click reject, and then chose the appropriate option such as Important First Team Player or Offer Not good Enough I find it works better.
But you inevitably will get players that are unhappy regardless of what you do. This happens because of their personalities and the team rep that is trying to buy them.
Really how can you blame someone for being mad that his club won't let him go to ManU or Barca? Think if it was you, and you were playing for a strong team but all of sudden Barca offers Important First Team player status and your team won't let you leave. You'd be ****ed too.

| I would be if I was worth say £10m and they offered £15m for me, but when the CPU comes in with stupidly low bids then its taking the michael.
Link that to the CPU managers demanding massive sums for their own stars- and this being a known FM2006/7 issue- then its crazy that it hasnt been addressed in 08.

I set asking proce to 0 and reject all offers turned on.
Never had an unhappy player.
Never had teh chairman accept offers over my head.
Missed a lot of news items (some important)though... you know, 'lost in the post'
It's worked since 05 or 06 (not sure)

might not work, but i still do it. If the player gets annoyed, so what? They're still performing, and if another club wants them, they've got to pay.

On a fairly related subject....
Something I've noticed about all the FM's is when they (the AI) want to buy one of your players, their offer is usually around 75% of said players face value, say £7.5Million for a £10Million rated AMC, yet when the AI are managing the team containing said player, usually they'll settle for nothing less than 75% MORE (often even higher than that!) than players value. They'll want £17.5Million + easily for player.
Ever noticed that?

| Yep, that's what I've found too.
Take the time to go thru the proper motions.
Ironically though, I'm experiencing a similar problem with my nippy left winger. When you're BSP and a PREM club wants your player, it's inevitable that he's going, no matter what you do.
In instances like this when a player is truly p***ed off, I tend to 'offer to clubs' at an outlandish amount, and more often than not, the big clubs nibble at it.
Just cut your losses and enjoy the transfer money.

| That's always been the case, since the CM days, unfair as it may be.

| Yes all the time, even for players that they've had sat in their reserves for 2 years, I once bid for a player of Borough's who was decent (they were in the prem i was in the championship he'd played less than 10 first team games in 3 seasons)his value was 1.5 mil, I enquired and they demanded 3.75mil, I 'said how about 2mil?' they offered back at 3.7mil I ran away screaming. Not an isolated incident by any means, it happens a couple of times a season.
